I am so excited. I love camping, and we get to bring the pooch. We leave tommarrow.
We are camping on the beach, Salt Point , so it will probably be about 75 degrees, which is awesome, because it is supposed to be in the 100 degree range here.
Certainly mundane and pointless, but I had to share my joy.
The drive down was gorgeous, and the park was beautiful, although my husband and I ended up not seeing as much as we’d hoped. (We got lazy one day, then rained out the next.)
Still it was a great campground. There are a few photos of the trip snapped by my pal here and here.
I had a great time. The tide pools were something else. Lots of fun to climb around and look at. I can’t recommend Salt Point enough. We are definitly going back next year.
Depends on what kind of camping you’re doing. The “enviromental campsites” at Pfeiffer Burns are perhaps the premier place to spend the night on the California coast, but they are walk-in, and there’s only a couple of them. Andrew Molera is another walk-in with some nice spots in a meadow with some really cool, gnarly trees.
If you’re car camping, Kirk Creek is on a bluff right on the edge of the ocean.
Big Sur Riverside Campground is a good spot for families. It has hot showers and spots right along the river.
