I'm going job-hunting.

I like delivering papers, I really do. I like the hours. I like the pay. I like being done at 7 a.m. every morning.
On the other hand, I do NOT like not knowing when my paycheck will arrive. A few months ago, the paper decided to do things differently, “things” being “we aren’t going to pay you in advance anymore.” Peachy. It’s dumb to pay people a month ahead of time anyway. (Our August 5 check, for instance, was for the entire month of August, so if someone quit on August 6, the paper could very well be out that money.) However, it is also dumb, as well as impolite, as well as damn near unethical, to wait until October 5, the normal payday, to issue a statement saying, oh, by the way, we’re changing this, so you won’t get your October pay until November 5."
So, no paycheck in October, which screwed my budget completely. And this paycheck arrived about 4 days late, which screwed my budget even more.

Long story short, I’m job-hunting. This isn’t entirely bad–finding a job at the hospital was part of my long-term plan anyway, because they’ll pay for me to go back to school. I’m just doing it a bit earlier than I had expected.

I’m applying for positions that are scheduled in the 3-11 p.m. slot. I think I can do that three days per week and even still keep one of my paper routes. (I do like it, after all, and it pays well.) It will all work out, methinks.

Except, of course, for the actual getting the job part. For that, I might need luck, so if anyone has any to spare, could ya send a little my way? Thanks!

Best,
karol

You can always come with me to the plasma center. $200 a month for 4-6 hours a week of work. What medical degree are you looking into, LPN, ASN, medical technician, etc?

What is this paper delivery job you speak of and what does it pay? Are there openings in that?

Oh, Wesley! They need carriers right now. Drop me an email–I think I’ve lost your address–or im me. It’s great, if you live here and can be available every morning of your life.

I’m interested in getting a tech certificate in radiology. I can do it through Ivy Tech, and the hospital will either reimburse me at 75% or pay for it outright if I get lucky. Either way, I’d be happy.

They have radiological technician certs at the Ivy Tech here? What time do I have to wake up to deliver papers and how long does it take?

Do you already have a Bachelors degree? If you do then nevermind, but if you don’t then you may qualify for pell grants which would pay for ivy Tech classes easily.

The radiology tech program is actually in Terre Haute (I think), but they work with the Bloomington campus, so I should be able to do at least some classes here. I think several are available online as well.

I have a BA in education, but I should qualify for some types of aid anyway, I think. This won’t be for a year or so anyway, but a girl can plan…

I’ll email you with paper info.

It seems that I’ve got some luck in the job-getting department lately, so here’s some…
