I’ll be in Chicago from August 1st to the 4th for the Postal Convention. While I am not a postal worker my father is a retired one and as a family we go to the conventions. I have a few questions
What are fun non-turisty things to do
Where can I do Karaoke
Any SDopers up for a meet? I’d like to meet anyone who is around the area
Really, it all depends on what you think is fun. One person might like to shop. There’s places you can do that here. Or they may like nightclubs. We have them. Blues clubs, jazz clubs, and, I’m sure, karaoke clubs.
For the goulish there could be a tour of the location of the St Valentine’s Day Massacre, the theater where John Dillinger was killed, and the home of John Gacy. The Museum of Science and Industry has relics from the Titanic. And there are plenty of corpses at the Field Museum.
I’m into some Goulsih things I may take that tour.
Tourustry where tourists gawk, stare, take pictures and have no idea what they are photographoing or why but everyone says you must go there
As for fun I can’t describe it because I find all different things fun but usually things that are not ordinary.
So “touristy” stuff would be, like, tall buildings. We have them, too. Boring. Of course, I’ve always thought that getting paid to do something ruins doing it for fun and looking down the elevator shaft from the top floor of the Sears Tower while surveying an elevator job ruined tall buildings for me. As for pictures, postcards look better.
That ghoul tour doesn’t entirely exist IRL. I mean, it’s not like it’s formal or anything. But there is a good one that is a ghost tour of Chicago. It visits some of those places and more. But it helps to have a working knowledge of Chicago history. And I think it might just run in Autumn.
Where ya coming in from? What’re yer age, gender, interests, etc?
Yep Boring buildings are not my thing and while I do want some photos with my camera I want to take ones that most people won’t
I’m comming in from New Jersey. I’m 26 and male. My interests are rock music, no rap, computers, how things work, singing (poorly thus karaoke) and film and TV
