Actually I think the Louvre is closed on Tuesday, although I’ll check. Most other museums in Paris are closed on Monday. Anyway one should always call before one goes anywhere in Paris since things are liable to close unexpectedly for a number of reasons (these days there are demonstrations regarding the current situation in Afghanistan which have caused whole areas to be put off limits).
Oh yes, we’ve checked.
My wife (and I)has been planning this for quite sometime. A few weeks back we bought a large map of Paris and a road map of France.
For Paris we each have little triangle and square flags with a different color for each of us. We’ve been putting the flags in the maps with the triangle for places we want to make a point of seeing (get it, point?) and the square flags for secondary choices. We also have a map of the Louvre and we have marked out where we are going in there. We have our three day museum passes in hand. I think we are more prepared to invade France than Ike was. (the other Ike) Basically I want suggestions because my flags are in the places that a five year old would pick like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre and I have no idea about smaller cool things like the catacombs or good places to eat or places to go at night. I think my wife has some forty odd bookmarks in her browser at home for planning this trip.
Thaks for the suggestions and if you think of anything else put them up.
This restaurant is fantastic and has a very reasonable fixed price menu. It’s also very popular so you’ll have to book well in advance. The food is the kind of classic French cuisine that seems to cost the earth outside of France.

Métro : Trinité
Another advantage is that it’s very close to Place Pigalle so you can check out some sleaze after your meal.
On a final culinary note, I would second the view that you will struggle to find somewhere to eat in mid afternoon. The French like to have lunch at lunchtime and dinner at dinnertime.
Ironically, my final piece of advice is to try not to plan too much. It’s very hard not to have a good time there - leave time for doing nothing.
More Suggestions:-
Musée Marmottan. Here you will find Monet’s own art collection and “Impression-Sunrise” ,the painting that gave the name for the whole immpressionist movement.
Musée Carnavalet. This tells the history of Paris including a large section on the French Revolution and some great room interiors rescued from Parisian mansions.
For the best view of Paris go to the 59th. floor roof terrace of the Tour Montparnasse , a 70’s office block near the centre of the city
Well we are off to Paris tomorrow morning and will be back next week. We are trying to fit in many of these suggestions and I will post a long (and hopefully not too braggy) MPSIMS when I get back.
Thanks again!

When you go to the Per le Chaise, don’t mention Jim Morrison’s name to the guards.
The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays and some holidays. Most museums in France seem to be closed on either Mondays or Tuesdays, but not both.
I wouldn’t worry about itinerary too much, though. Paris is a wonderful city to just wander around and see whatever you happen to feel like seeing at the moment. Don’t try to cram too much into one trip, or be too inflexible, or you’ll miss some of the fun of just being there.
