That’s right! I’m going to London on business next Monday, and I’m staying for 6 days in Slough. Woo-HOO! At last this soul-crushing job of mine is paying off a little.
Wow, that is so cool. All I get is domestic locations. {Like Minneapolis in march or Tampa in July} What are you going to do when not working?
I want to get over to London, I was in it airport for about an hour once.
Jim
When you get to Slough, you may reconsider your enthusiasm…[
Slough? Poor you.
At least Windsor Castle is nearby. And there’s Legoland for the kiddies.
Not for nothing was The Office set there…
OK, we’re pissing on your candle here. Let’s accentuate the positive instead. As Quartz says, it’s near Windsor. That’s a very nice spot with a rather impressive castle. It’s near Bray, which has the Restaurant of the Year 2001 - the 3 Michelin star Fat Duck, though your expense account might not stretch that far. It’s near enough to Henley, which is very pretty, and if you hire a car it’s less than an hour from Oxford, where I live, which is a beautiful city. And it’s convenient for London. It’s also a great place for cheap and delicious curry. Not all bad, then (though you might think so when you get there).
Word for word, that’s exactly what I immediately thought.
Not even eschewing the double negative?
Well, I’m probably going to do nothing but hotel-work-hotel till Friday, then I guess I’ll hop in the tube and spend the weekend in London. I’m going to try to book a room in London proper for the weekend, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to pull it off. Maybe I’ll go down to London Saturday, gett pissed, get arrested, and spend the night on the Crown.
Sounds like you’ve got the beginnings of a good plan
Enjoy,
Jim {jealous}
Heh. No worries, mate. 4 days in Slough for a weekend in London? Not a bad trade-off. Hell, I spent a week in Pittsburgh once. I can do 4 days in Slough standing on my head.
Indeed. I’ve got a 2-week trip there coming in September, and had told SmithWife she could come along. This short trip just came up, and I’ve told her it’s not a good idea for her to come along - short trip, short notice, none of us have passports, way too much money for too little trip (what with the short notice) and Etc. She’s angry she’s being left behind. She’ll still beable to do the September trip, but she’s afraid it will fall through and she’ll never see London.
 She’s very pessimistic as of late.
I’d run my husband through with a rapier if he went to UK without me!
I’m just back from London and I am very jealous that you get to go…
Have a great time. Slough can’t be that bad–it’s in the UK, fer god’s sake! Plus, you can always get a cab/Tube/bus/train/car outta there, if needed.
