I'm having dinner at this chinese restaurant in the West Village (dumpling king). . .

And they have an internet connection here. On the monitor is the following sign:

Made me laugh. Just another MPTIMS. By the way don’t forget to go here for more funny signs.

Hey, can you pick me up some spring rolls and cashew chicken while you’re there?

Need any duck sauce with that?

Is the duck sauce in those little plastic packets with the girl or the dragon printed on them? If so, could you grab a few and mail 'em to me? The Chinese place I go to doesn’t have any duck sauce at all, and somehow it’s just not the same to dunk my egg roll in the sauce from my sweet’n’sour chicken.

Naah, hold the duck sauce, man. Hee, when I was living in Cali, no one knew what duck sauce was. “What do you mean, duck sauce?” I could never quite explain it…

Ooo, and fortune cookies! Get me a bunch of them too, please?

SEE? racin is off the East Coast, and she can’t find duck sauce in the restaurants! It’s not the same as sweet n’ sour…

I can’t imagine a chinese food place without duck sauce. Duck sauce makes anything taste better. ANYTHING!!!

I beg to differ. Duck sauce won’t make me like beets. No way, no how.

And hey, it’s been more than a half hour… stop bogarting the restaurant’s internet connection!

What is duck sauce? Like the sauce you put on Beijing roast duck, or the sauce you dip roasted duck pieces in or some NY invention?

the duck sauce that came in the little packets was… um… made of apricots. at least, apricot was the only ingredient listed on the packet. the sit-down restaurants (as opposed to Just Take-Out, which dominated the market in my area) would give you a little dish of duck sauce and a bowl of fried noodles to dip in it, as an appetizer. and duck sauce goes good on egg rolls too.

Oh, they <i>say</i> it’s only apricots, but here’s the Straight Dope on <url=“http://www.aaaugh.com/meiss/humor/duksauce.html”>duck sauce</url>.

[sub]Hee…[/sub]

I’ve been coding all day. Sorry!

Please, take these and stick them up there in place of the < >'s.

Rasa:

I didn’t say it would make anything taste GOOD, I said it would make it taste BETTER. Better than terrible can still be terrible though.

Yeah, and I have mad sex appeal. I guess I broke both their rules.

Okay, now I know what you’re talking about. Yep, it’s authentic Chinese too in case you were wondering. Unlike fortune cookies, but you probably know that already.

Eh, I took that to mean that the internet connection was free, but for sex appeal, you’d have to pay, dj. But I’ve been wrong before… Not that I doubt your mad appeal or anything, ya know?

So duck sauce does really exist outside of the East Coast, apparently! That’s good to know. I feel so validated.

But I still want some damn fortune cookies!

Just tell them it’s like little packets of Saucy Susan goodness. Or is that an East Coast thing too?
