You mentioned you have certificates – I assume they’re for the crime scene cleaning? Does whoever trained you have a job placement program?
Also, someone else mentioned cleaning up after hoarders. There are companies that specialize in cleaning up after fires and other types of disasters. Maybe you could also check them out?
That’s a good idea and I don’t blame you at all. I mean, okay, you’ve told a community of thousands in your very first posts that you’ve been sexually and physically abused, currently use illegal drugs (though thankfully not as bad as the really awful ones you also told us about), have a cancer-stricken family member you don’t like and now denounce as insufficiently grateful for your having paid for chemo, are friendless–or at least, only manage to have friends who are selfish assholes, are about to be homeless and considered some sort of illegal money-making method as a viable option, and are attracted to the gruesome field of cleaning blood, gore and toxic materials mainly because your family member was murdered. But revealing you quit your job because of sexual harassment? Now that would be TMI.
Keep that privacy sacred! Some day it may be all you have, apart from the brownies.
Yes, speaking about leaving a job because of sexual harassment is very disheartening. It’s disgusting how judgemental you are. I’m allowed to express whatever I want on these boards. If I want to speak about certain things and not speak about other things, so be it. Why do you care? It’s usually people like you who have no control over their own lives. That’s why they are so quick to point out all of the flaws in other people’s lives. Yes, I smoke weed once or twice a month, at most. Why are you such a pain in the ass? How does anything you have said to me help my situation? Have you heard of the saying ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’?. Btw, Maya isn’t even my real name. I am allowed to say whatever I want on a public forum. Get a life.
Yeah. Biohazard techs do hoarding jobs, disaster jobs, etc. We’re trained to handle different situations. My school wasn’t helpful with job placement, but I’m looking into many different job websites, instead of relying on Craigslist. Do you think posting my resume on here (with a fake name, of course) would be a good idea? I’d like to get some feedback before I fax it out. ??
Insults and calling other posters names is only allowed in the BBQ Pit forum…so make a topic there if you wish to do that.
Don’t call names in this forum again.
Is crime scene cleaning done by vendors or by state/local agencies? If the latter, there’s probably only one job listing site you need to be looking at.
Best of luck with everything. Oh, and consider speaking to an attorney about the sexual harassment thing.
I would hire an attorney, but this person has threatened to harm my family if I follow through, so I’m backing off. So far, I have not heard from him in weeks. The situation sucks, but I’m trying to not lose anymore sleep on it.
As far as the job, crime cleaning in New York is usually, if not solely, done by vendors, but cleaners work w/precincts, coroners, and the courts. Police call the coroner, the coroner calls the cleaner, and if the police miss anything incriminating like bullets or extra prints, the court asks the cleaner(s) to testify. I think in some states the precincts will hire cleaners directly, but I’m not sure.
Oh, and thanks for the luck! I think things are getting better now that I’m sleeping more.
He said, “I’ve seen your cow of a mother. You don’t think I can find out where she lives?” Next day, he texted me her address. I have no idea how he found out that info. My mom said that somebody was calling and hanging up. I told the jerk that her building has surveillance cameras. I think he’s just trying to scare me, but I don’t want to take that risk. I know he has a record. I’m assuming he ‘knows people’. I’m trying to go to my happy place, but I seriously wish this assclown would die.
I agree. 10 years ago, I went to the cops about something similar and it ended up making things worse. All of my friends/family know his name, just in case. I don’t think he’s going to do anything now. It just sucks that he’s probably done this before.
It’s true. Police need solid evidence for a restraining order. If I had a recording of him threatening me, I could use that in court. Oh well. Just gonna move on and cut my losses. If he starts bothering me again, I’ll go to the police.
Sometimes a decent night’s sleep is the best thing to help keep perspective when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Best of luck to you, and try not to let your former boss occupy too much space (rent-free!) in your head…
