I'm just a loony toony touched in the head. . .

Pass me the ketchup, I think I’ll go to bed.

I’m looking for songs in which the singer is just a little. . . disturbed. Some examples:

Song 2-- Blur

Flagpole Sitta-- Harvey Danger

Unwell-- Matchbox 20 (or Twenty-- dunno which)
I was thinking of Jeremy and Jumper but it’s not really the singer whose touched in those.

Also, who sings They’re Coming To Take Me Away?

Well, there’s “The Curse of Millhaven” from Murder Ballads by Nick Cave.

Then again, a whole lot of Nick Cave songs probably fall into this category.

Napolean XIV.

I was just listening to the Bonzo Dog Band’s cover of Monster Mash, and that song ends with some of the best maniacal laughter ever commited to record.

Queen- I’m Going Slightly Mad

Hm, a lot of bands try to sound like that these days.

Anything by Disturbed fits the bill, of course.

The immediate response I had was “Crazy” by Patsy Cline, but I don’t think that’s what you want. This could be interesting.

“Transfusion” - Nervous Norvus.

Oh, I know. If you can hear “The Torture Never Stops” by Frank Zappa (or a multitude of his other work) and not know the man was insane, I’ll give you a cookie. Heh.

“Crazy,” by Barenaked Ladies

“Flowers in the Rain” by The Move.

Well just because it is seasonal. The Pogues, The Christmas song.

Wasn’t it Sam the Sham and the Pharohs?

Don’t forget the B-side to that one.

“A fairytale of New York”? I don’t think he’s unhinged in it… just drunk. Par for the course.

“Psycho Killer” by The Talking Heads.

“. . . don’t touch me, I’m a real live wire.”

Night Prowler by AC/DC…

hrh

“Every Breath You Take” by The Police–a love song from a stalker.

Ah, yes- !Aah-Ah, Yawa Em Ot Ekat Em Er’yeht, I believe.

They Might Be Giants specialize in the insanity lyric. Certainly Absolutely Bill’s Mood and many other less explicitly insanity-oriented tunes like The Statue Got Me High and Nothing’s Gonna Change My Clothes. It’s a rich surreal tapestry they’ve got going there.
