I'm looking for some software.

Recently a couple of websites I frequent have added programming to there pages that turns certain words into links. I have in the past had scumware on my computer that would do the same thing, and the scumware worked on all websites, not just certain ones. So this is not something on my computer. You can hover over the links and get some info or click on them and a new window opens. At one site the they are called Adlinks from Kontera Technologies. In my opinion, these adlinks are the same as popups and other types of sneaky ways to force advertising on us end users. We have software to stop popups and many other unwanted intrusions on our computers, I was wondering if anyone new of any software to stop these adlinks. They really slow down the loading of the pages, one site use to load in a few seconds now takes about 30 seconds to load. I would like to think there is something out there to stop these third party programs from loading on these websites.

You seem to be describing Google Adsense (or Adwords?). I think those are server-side implements, and no easy way of turning them off.

It isn’t Google Adsense. It’s called Intellitxt. The actual word on the page is a hover-box link-thing. Sort of like:

Darn you, Opal. You owe me a new keyboard for that one!

If you put your mouse over “keyboard” you’d have a little hover box thing with an ad for keyboards. It’d be green instead of blue too. As for turning them off, they don’t work on the older versions of Firefox (0.7 and earlier I think), so that’s something to try.

perhaps this will work?

rumours that adding intellitxt to your blocked list if you are using the Adblock extension for mozilla/firefox browsers will work also

I just tried adding intellitxt to my adblock extension’s list and it definitely worked. This (some laptop review) is the page I used to test it, if anyone is looking for one to check their own setup.

Sorry about it then - I do recall that Google has a service among that line too.

You can block most ads by using a modified HOSTS file. See here: Blocking Unwanted Connections with a Hosts File

I have found the easiest way to block these in text links is to block the web site hosting the crap through the restricted sites feature in Internet Options. Thanks for the help.
