I'm old!!!!

I lost my job in March. Spent the whole summer exploring new opportunities. The outlook is pretty bleak. The job market for quality assurance associates is not good anymore, there is little manufacturing to be had in SE South Carolina. I decided to go back to school and study civil engineering this fall. I was taking a class in surveying and one day while waiting for the teacher everyone was talking about the big weekend they had had. They all seemed like they were learning to drink for the first time. Being a recovering alcoholic and in essence a reformed whore, I announced to the guys that I had my last drink in 1987. One of my classmates looked at me and said, “I was four when you had your last drink.” I did some quick math and returned with, “When I began college, you weren’t even born yet.” How should I feel about this?

Feel PROUD, hlanelee. You are strong enough to adapt to a changing wolrd that today’s little spoiled brats can’t even imagine.

I know whereof I speak, cuz I teach high school. My students were born AFTER I got my credential.
<sigh>
Be strong…for both of us. :wink:

Youth is wasted on the young. Children should be seen, not heard.

Happy Holidays, hlanelee - break out that ruler the next time the brats speak up! :wink:

hlanelee Feel wiser, more intelligent and a wonderful person.

Wow. I bow my head deeply for you.
