True enough, but I have an additional policy on a personal level. If the content of a post is generally thoughtful, insightful, and informative, I tend to be very forgiving of spelling errors.

However, if a post tends to be bigoted, hateful, or moronic, then anything–spelling included–is fair game for ridicule.

Come on, Bosda- he’s not that bad. He’s not as much of an idiot as some of the other new posters we’ve had lately. I’d like to believe Themis00’s idiocy is attritubable to his being new rather than some moral or genetic failure on his part.

But then, I’d like to believe in fairies, too.

I think the main problems he’s having are these:

1. Frequent lapses in spelling, punctuation, and grammar. All this leads to an inability to understand what the hell he’s trying to say. But this brings us to-

2. Not much. He’s started 2 Pit threads already, neither of which actually belong in the Pit per se. He seems fond of pointlessness, apparently failing to realize that content wins over lame attempts at humor every time. He further confuses actual content with tite, cliched crap.

3. And he seems to think the SDMB is some sort of teen chat room, much like our dear friends SmileyDeath and fauxpas. He likes “LOL!” apparently, and is addicted to the overuse of smilies.

All this has been pointed out to him before, and maybe he’ll surprise us all by taking the hint, doing some more lurking, and cleaning himself up. If not, we can only pray that come next week his studies will leave him no time to annoy us.
