It should. I’m more wary of buying any book from Amazon if they explicitly allow this trash there. Most of the books I read from Amazon are part of Kindle Unlimited, so I’m not paying per book. But I’m less likely to outright buy a book if there’s a risk that I’m being faked by a dupe.
Rasenberger said the Authors Guild is pushing Amazon to start disclosing on its site which books are AI-generated, and that the company has been “responsive.” She said the guild also supports a bill introduced in Congress last year by Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) that would require AI companies to include markings on the content their tools produce to identify them as AI-generated.
If that happened, that would be a massive improvement. And then violators could be removed from the platform. Since it’s unlikely that many people would intentionally buy AI-generated trash, this would probably be a de facto ban of them.
