Okay, maybe I’m the weird one here but I love summer. Not as much as I love spring, but still. I love going outside and being warmed by the sun and running around until I sweat. Hell, I don’t even mind sweating or the discomfort, it reminds me that I’m alive.
It’s for that reason that I absolutely hate winter. I hate being so cold that I can’t feel my extremities. I’d rather be in discomfort from being too warm than being too cold. Something about being too cold reminds me of death.
But then again I lived in places where the summers were mostly humidity than heat (Michigan and Kyoto). Maybe I’ll be changing my tune a little when I live in Sacramento, but I’ll still take it over the frozen hell that is a Michigan six month long winter.
I’ve lived in Florida all my life and still haven’t adapted to the heat. Sometimes, all it takes is two breaths of hot muggy air to make me nauseous. I get a lot of sinus problems too. Fortunately, they really crank the air conditioning at my workplace, so if I can drag my ass to work, I’ll recover in an hour or two.
As for the sun, Dracula likes it more than I do. Putting on sunglasses helps with the blinding pain in my eyes, then I can concentrate on lovely thoughts of cancer.
I pit summer for not being in evidence at all here yet. I had to turn the heat on this morning!
I’m sure it’s not as bad in Saudi Arabia as in Florida. Dry heat, y’know.
Unless your “worst heat” doesn’t last more than a week or so, I think you’d be disappointed by this plan.
I like summer if only because it’s better than winter. Plus, thunderstorms.
I can’t for the weather to turn. You get used to the heat living here. If you don’t, you just suffer. Even though the humidity rarely gets over 20 percent when the temps reach the 110’s to 120’s it can a little stifling. I would never compare this to a region where the humidity is in the 80 percent range. Even for me that is kind of rough. Since I sell auto parts and service at a new car dealer the temperature means more business. Some people don’t feel the need to maintenance their cars regularly so when it gets hot they break down much more than when it’s cool. People get so agitated when their cars break down, more so when it’s the air conditioning when it’s 115 outside. I’m sure all the intelligent people here don’t let their cars go without regular maintenance. Right?
Flies, plural? How many schlongs do you think I have?
Just wait until they burn off the rice fields in the middle of a thermal inversion. It’s a charming mix of hot, humid and hazy that lasts for days.
The heat makes me sick. Thank GOD for AC and fans-ceiling fans, stand up fands, desk fans, rotating fans, etc. Sometimes, right before I go to bed, I’ll jump in the shower, turn the cold water on, stand in for a minute or two, then go straight up to bed.
I think the main reason people say, “it’s the humidity!” is because you really don’t get any breezes then, and you don’t feel like walking through mud. The two combined are what makes it bad. If there’s gonna be humidity without heat, it’s usually rain, then.
Summer brings sweating, humidity and bugs…all of which I hate!
I’d much prefer blue skies, and snow! Then I’d be able to ski year round! No bugs, no humidity, and a nice warm bed at night!
Can it PLEASE be October??
