I agree, and want to add that an insult to Clamato with beer, or in a Bloody Caesar, is an insult to the Canadian Nation itself, and if you do it Justin Trudeau will NEVER come to your house and have sex with you.
I’m so nervous and upset about all this that I can’t sleep.

I’m ok with that. You may have my turn.
Hang in there. It will get better. That horrid feeling you’ve got now will go away. Until then, best wishes.
Well don’t drink!
This is good advice.
Could you test yourself using a Breathalyzer?
And perhaps do the same test at work to stamp out the rumours…
Out of curiousity - do wear aftershave? Often, those are alcohol based. Plus old bottles of cologne sometimes start to smell more like gin after a while.
It might be time for a change of aftershave.
No. It’s pretty much implied that workplaces are scent-free environments now.
Deodorant only.

Get a package of those Listerine strips and use them frequently during the day.
In Alberta (and probably in Ontario, too), if Leaffan went to his boss and declared that he had an alcohol addiction problem, he would be protected from being fired for it, but he would also be required to enter a treatment program for that alcohol addiction problem. That doesn’t seem like a useful exercise.
Sorry this is happening to you, Leaffan. Who knows why some people just have to be dicks to other people?
I’m so sorry you have to deal with this, I’d be feeling the same way if I were you. On the bright side, don’t you think if any action were going to be taken against you, it would’ve been discussed when they called you in yesterday? Still sucks that you have a coworker up in your personal business though. I hope it all works out for you.
No! The worst thing you can do at this point is 1. Try to cover anything up, 2. Keep attention on the issue, 3. Worry too much.
Just let it die. You know you weren’t in the bag. The boss knows it. It’s just another day at work. Do your job and forget about it.
If you start popping Tic-Tacs or using mouthwash, it’s just going to raise suspicion.
My 2 cents.
Yeah, and he would not be able to have a responsible drink anymore, as that would interfere with his treatment for “irresponsible drinking”.
It won’t work anyway. The smell of alcohol on your breath doesn’t come from your mouth. It comes from your lungs. Mouthwash can’t cover that up.
I agree. I know it’s so hard to shake it off and assume everything is OK – I am an anxious worrier myself. But think of it this way – they had to follow up on the bogus claim, they asked because they kind of had to, and they accepted your answer. They are probably happy to drop and just move on, and you can too. Who knows if they haven’t had other issues with that same person and he is more a concern to them than you are? Deep breath, be careful but just be the kind of employee they hired you to be.
A 'alf litre ain’t enough. It don’t satisfy. And a 'ole litre’s too much. It starts my bladder running. Let alone the price.
That’s why I drinks quarts, avoiding the whole litre bullshit.
Screw that noise, man. Don’t let this situation, which if it happened in a normal part of your life, might not be that big a deal, get over blown. Maybe it seems a lot bigger a deal right now because of the other stress. Pre-existing stressful shit puts a taint of additional brand new stressful shit and makes them all much worse.
Just my opinion. Good luck.
I’ve put down 4 litres of homebrew in a night more than a few times.
You feel betrayed, that’s hugely powerful. You trust your co-workers implicitly and it wounded you that one said that about you to a person of power. Even if you find out who it was someday, if you want to start moving forward today rather than letting the anger eat your life by keeping you from sleep or healthy eating, etc, you’ll need to decide to either leave the fury behind or leave the job and let it erode away over time.
Betrayal is a tough one to handle, mentally; it’s a pain that isn’t your fault but you still have to fix it.
