I'm sailing away . . .

If you need some light reading on the trip, take along Jack London’s THE SEA WOLF. Or B. Traven’s THE DEATH SHIP.

[sub]THAT’LL fix his little red wagon. He won’t get a wink of sleep for the whole month NOW.

Pucette: Don’t worry too much about those pesky days of the week. For the next month, I won’t having any. It’ll only be on-watch or off-, in port or at sea.

Ellen: I’ve been to Charleston and love it, but never been to Savannah. I’m excited to be going to them by sea. I’m always looking to hear about don’t-miss things to see.

London_Calling: Sounds like that was a great trip. I’d love to sail the European coast some time. But, dammit, why’d you have to give my sister the opening for another one of her pushes for me to take up knitting. Actually, my project is to learn what I can about celestial navigation. Also, another of the crew is bringing a ham radio set-up, which I’m sure I’ll spend a bunch of time tinkering with.

rocking chair: We’ve got hurricane tracking charts, and will be trying to hook the laptop up to the satellite phone so we can get weather chart broadcasts (and maybe internet service).

Chief Scott: Are you still in Norfolk? We may be stopping there around October 10. If we stop there, I’d love to have a beer with you.

Ike: I’m one step ahead of you, pal. We’re not bringing a red wagon on the trip.

Green Bean: Miss you, too. Take care of Spot for me.

Billdo – Here’s some reading material for you on your trip South: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. When you get to Savannah, there’ll be plenty of places you’ll want to visit.

Beaufort, S.C., is a good place to stop while you’re in the low country, too. It might be accessible from the intercoastal, but I don’t know since I’ve never set foot on a sailboat!

Landlockedly yours,
Ellen

Yesterday was my last day of work, and right now I’m almost through with my packing. At 0700 tomorrow morning, we’ll be heading off into the Atlantic.

Ellen, I just picked up Midnight it the Garden of Good and Evil. It’s on the top of my list to read before we get to Savannah. (I’m sorry, Ike, did you have book suggestions, too?)

Skerri, I’ll see you in Charleston.

Everyone Else, have fun out there on dry land. I’ll try to post my adventures when I can get online. If you want to get in touch with me, I’ve changed my e-mail here to a Yahoo account that I’ll be able to access from anywhere when I’m online.

I’ll miss the boards and you all. Pictures and logs will be available at the January 5 New York Mega-Dopefest. Hope to see you all there, if not before.

have fun. watch out for iris.

When I see you in January, I will have to remember to kill you for that thread title, because every time I see it, I get that stupid song stuck in my head!

Gack! That wasn’t really Cranky. I’m staying at her place this weekend and forgot to change the screen name. :o
