I'm sick of "noise intros" in modern metal

Yeah those rap skit segments are annoying as hell and they seem to put them between every song so forget about listening to an album straight through. Same idea as the metal noise intros.

I don’t know much about these new bands [get off my lawn] but I love the intros / outros throughout most of the songs on the Voivod albums Negatron (1995) and Phobos (1997).

I find bands like Voivod and Skinny Puppy used noise to create atmosphere and some cohesion throughout the album. With the noise intros described by the OP and the hip-hop interludes it feels more like filler. I love Tool but even their interludes have grown tiresome.

Similar to this, “noise outros” from alternative bands piss me off. In particular, Sonic Youth and Radiohead. At lease they usually fall at the end of a song so their easily skipped.

Ditto. There was only one in 10,000 Days and it was more of an interlude.

I’ve all but stopped listening to metal now. Just can’t seem to find anything good. The last decent band I came across was Mastodon. And seriously, why doesn’t anyone enunciate anymore. I cannot understand what you’re saying if you’re growling. I don’t want to look up your lyrics on the internet to figure out how dumb they are. You are not Rob Zombie and you never will be.

Sorry about the rant.

Recently, I decided to explore out of my comfort zone to find some good new metal. I found Drowning Pool’s “Killing Me”. It has a very annoying intro before it gets good.

My next search after that was Motley Crue.

I miss the '80’s metal bands.
