In fact, while looking at the data, it seems 1942 was a very unusual time for North Dakota in January. Record warmth, and it lasted for a long time.
Lowest temperature ever recorded on Earth happened in August, 2014, in Connecticut. If this trend continues, the earth will become a Bose-Einstein condensate in a matter of years, months, maybe even days.

Every time, and I mean all the time, I decide to let this sickening thread die, just fucking die already, something happens. At first I thought it was an unusual event, but after carefully doing experiments, checking other threads, checking the numbers, I realized it’s not either chance, or some error involved.

This is pretty old news to those who keep up with the global warming wars. What is so surprising is that many of the altered displays of “the temperature record” have been altered more than once. In fact, it seems they can be changed at will, but there is certainly no Universal agreement on the matter.
GISS doesn’t agree with NOAA, which differs from HADCRUT, and they all disagree with RSS, which also is slightly different than UAH, and none of them agree with BEST, and MERRA doesn’t always agree with ERA, nor does NCEP/DOE V2 agree with CFSR, it’s a goddamn nightmare for researchers at times.
Even NOAA differs from Rutgers on snow, and of course the sea ice and SSTs is a clusterfuck of apples and oranges.
I’ve avoided that shitstorm in this topic for the most part, because there is little doubt it would be as pleasant as debating the Hockey Stick graph or the question of the Holocene climatic optimum.

If only it had been an unusually warm winter with no snow, then we would be hearing all about the forum, and how global warming is threatening industries and how children just won’t know what snow is.
Like last year, when we were being told how snow was going away, how horrible it all was, because of global warming. (based on the 2012 report which left no doubt how snow was vanishing from climate change)
Of course if they had jumped on board with Cohen’s new theory (back in 2007 no less) they could be spinning a very cold winter, with record snow, as due to global warming. After the three-week snow siege that has smashed records in parts of New England, including Boston, Worcester and Bangor. it hardly needs saying, the terrible toll global warming is taking already. Just as the IPCC and numerous experts have been warning us about, for decades now, the true horror of AGW is impossible to deny any longer. Those poor people trapped in unbelievable snow and cold, if only they had switched to solar and windmills, and stopped burning fuels, we might have avoided this sort of thing. And of course all the fossil fuels being used to try and clear the streets and train tracks, and to keep warm, it is just making it worse.
You might ask what they are supposed to use instead of oil to heat and run equipment, to keep civilization going in the midst of such terrible global warming? Yes, that is the question. If burning fuels actually caused this, (and Trenberth himself has claimed this is the case now), what is the alternative? How are we to grow food, transport it, have water and light and heat,what is the alternative? Shit is getting serious, with the good chance of yet ANOTHER GODDAMN BLIZZARD slamming into the northeast US this weekend, what is to be done about it?
And the really big question, is it really from global warming? Because if we can say with certainty this is global warming, then certainly as lot of people can claim to be sick of it.

Hot deserts- the water that is there, or that precipitates there, evaporates and goes elsewhere.
Cold deserts- the water that is there, stays there as ice, so it gradually accumulates even though it is otherwise quite dry. But it is solid, not liquid, water.
Temperature change -----> Increase?
Hot deserts remain hot. Water continues to evaporate and not collect there, spreading the desert.
Cold deserts will collect even more snow than they already are.
