While I appreciate FX’s contribution to the issue here, and think his position has been both misunderstood and mischaracterized, this made me laugh.
Yet, you felt compelled to read what he wrote and comment on it. Interesting.
I don’t think many people who comment here bother to actually read anything Fuxsie says anymore. And it has nothing to do with lack of interest in global warming; it has to do with lack of interest in feeding a troll.
My mistake. Two toadies.
Guilty, I read one sentence. Not the wall of garbage.
Then how do you know it’s garbage?
How do you define troll? I’m never sure what people mean by that. I thought it meant someone who intentionally posts things simply to antagonize people. Right or wrong, that doesn’t seem to be what FX is doing here. So, how do you mean it?
Because I used to read this thread occasionally. It became clear about 60 pages ago.
So you came back to read one line that you didn’t know was there until you read it.
Impressive skills!
Yes. It’s really not all that tricky. Is this a gotcha of some sort?
The current situation in Frobisher Bay is interesting. Along with the Hudson Bay, we are seeing very high levels and late melting of sea ice. This year, compared to last year. Startling. And easy to see why the capital city at the end of the bay is having trouble receiving much needed supplies.
The sea ice is preventing shipping still, and they had to call back an icebreaker due to heavy late ice. This is due to the unusual cold, which we know for sure is the reason for more ice.
I actually think the scientist who are “surprised” by the rapid increase in Arctic sea ice are actually surprised. They tend to not question the consensus, or know much about the history of arctic ice.
Much like the current idiot spew about the sun not being able to influence the world, it really seems the new generation of experts have actually brainwashed themselves, and groupthink really has corrupted the scientific method, for more than a few people.
Science is eventually self correcting, but it’s rare that anyone ever admits they were simply wrong. Like the example I used from the solar predictions, which were dead wrong. It’s human nature to not want to discuss being wrong.
And that’s it? That’s your explanation for the consensus in the scientific community in agreement? They’re all brainwashed, but not you?
Needing the junk washed out of his brain would explain things.
Carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere doesn’t have the ability to create energy where there was none before … only the sun can do that … everything about climate starts there … it’s the First Law of Thermodynamics … and it can never be violated.
If you think it can be violated, then you’re wrong.
What exactly is the “general consensus”?
It’s fascinating how people can be convinced of something they aren’t even able to describe.
Lol, looks like you get the unintentionally ironic post of the week award.
What exactly is this “clear consensus”? Are you able to spell it out? If not, then it’s not really a “clear consensus.”
Amazing that this thought could pass through your brain unchecked.
I see a much larger problem, which is defined as “science” which is immune to any experiment, or data. And as we can see, “science” which can’t even be defined.
As I explained, a lot of science is done that can never be experimented on, everything from the sun to pretty much everything distant in the Universe. Actual science is not limited by not being able to experiment. Observation and measurement is a very important part of science, Observing the curvature of spacetime during an eclipse was considered evidence of a new theory. Saying we can’t know because we can’t experiment with the Universe is absurd. It’s the same thing with climate and earth science. We can’t experiment on the planet, but this is not some absolute barrier to knowing.
Maybe it’s because you can’t read, or understand what is being discussed. Why you would think that is beyond me.
I can’t experiment or gather data on why you would be so wrong, but that isn’t a barrier to trying to fathom your ignorance.
Cite that has a brain? I’m leaning strongly that he’s a bot created by infusing the comedy styles of Henny Youngman and Rob Schneider. Given that Rob Schneider is synonym for anti-funny, “Elucidator” is what you get. And thinking that there’s any discussion to be had beyond why his arms are so tired (he just flew in last night—ba-dop-BOP) is faulty thinking.
Pope Francis thinks global warming is causing an increase in human trafficking …
He’s right of course. When one thing happens, and another thing happens at the same time, one caused the other. This is science, as well as everyday logic.
There is no way to be able to tell if one thing causes another, except for them happening at the same time. Everybody knows this, only deniers would question such obvious reality.
It’s why you can know global warming is causing something. Like if there is a record cold Tmin (minimum daily temperature reading) in June in Boston, like just happened, June 28 2015, you know it’s because of global warming, because global warming is happening, so everything that we observe is from global warming.
Except for positive things, they are natural variation, or something else, but all the bad things are from global warming. Like a drop in damaging hurricanes. That isn’t global warming, but if there is a hurricane that causes a lot of damage, that is form global warming.
You can ever prove this using books. Yes, books. You use Google Ngram viewer, which lets you search books for words or phrases. Don’t take my word for it. it’s fucking science, which is obvious from looking at this web page about it.
You see? They published an analysis, and they wouldn’t do that if it wasn’t true. So looking at how often words are used proves just how much climate change and global warming is happening. Don’t deny it, you know it’s true.
See? You don’t have to take their word for it. You can use the Ngram viwer yourself, in which we can see how the 1989 San Francisco quake shows up clearly in words. Isn’t that sweet? So obviously the amount of words is a good proxy for things like earthquakes, global warming and climate change.
The examples of flooding and heat waves they show are impossible to deny. They almost exactly match the temperature record!
The wondrous thing about irony, or sarcasm, is that the target often doesn’t get it, but those who understand language, intelligence and something about how the world actually works, get a chuckle. Well I hope they do, because otherwise what’s the point? Or maybe it just makes us feel better to poke some fun at blowhards and idiots who spew pseudoscience online like a goddamn fire hose.
It makes me feel better, and that’s the important thing.
It’s also funny that the fuckhead alarmist won’t actually read anything much less follow the links, to get the joke.
Because in this case it’s really fucking funny.
They use “flooding” to show an absolute significant connection between global warming and flooding.
It’s Science!
But when you actually check, and look at all kinds of terms, like flood damage, or terrible flood, or record flood, you know, to check and see if words in books actually match events, the whole thing starts to look unscientific in the extreme.
The fuckhead won’t ever be able to grasp this, so there is no joy in explaining it. It’s still something to beef about, but thinking the facts will matter is an exercise in frustration.
But the Ngram viewer actually is an awesome tool, and if you didn’t know about it already, you do now.
You can use it to easily see the history of the greenhouse theory (AGW, global warming theory, theory of global warming).
Yes, that greenhouse theory of global warming shows up.
And wouldn’t it be great if words were an actual proxy for what is happening, or has happened?
We could look at all kinds of things, and note a decrease or increase, and claim it proves something! Like winter storms, or record snowfall, and then publish a study showing how words prove it is getting colder, with more winter storms.
Because science
