If the evidence surprises you, then there’s something wrong with your hypothesis.
The way that people can rationalize pretty much any evidence to fit their conveniently vague hypothesis is sadly unremarkable.
What is even more pathetic is transparently self-deluded people who simply assert their self-serving conclusions without any evidence or argument and base it on their self-proclaimed “intuition about dynamical systems.”
If reality actually matched the global warmist theory, so that the winters were mild, warm, more rain than snow and ice, frosts came late, ended early, and temperatures were going up, this would be a different conversation.
If Alaska and Siberia were still trending up, especially the winters, the permafrost melting away, glaciers vanishing, and trees were growing where tundra used to hold sway…
If Antarctica sea ice was trending down, and the deadly droughts of the past were happening again, millions ready to die from lack of rain, if hurricanes were increasing, or getting more frequent, or larger, or something different in a bad way …
If the data showed global temperatures rising … this would be a far different conversation.
You can be damn sure I wouldn’t be talking about record cold temperatures or deadly winters in regards to global warming. But it’s really the data, and the theory, that sort of makes the case that something screwy is going on.
It might actually be human caused climate change, but it isn’t global warming.
It is unknown what past temperatures actually were, but there is no doubt current temperatures are not as high as they were in the last 500 years. Not even close.
See next article.
False, the “study” has already been debunked.
There is no need to combine two different datasets, the satellite data for the arctic is a long running measurement, which they tried to graft into the HadCru4 to try and make it look like there is more warming that either dataset shows. It’s another trick.
Blatantly false. The winter trend for much of the US is colder, with more extreme cold events and snow.
Hilarious: here we are, noting that folks who make predictions should spell out what would prove their predictions false; and here you are, showing that – in the absence of such criteria – people left to their own devices may come up with foolish tests.
If the guy with the claim offers specifics, the analogy remains and the joke vanishes.
We don’t even need that much. Just an understanding of why CO2 increase is supposed to cause warming, and how that type of warming differs from the warming (and cooling) cycles the earth experiences naturally would be huge.
The signatures theorized to occur from CO2 increase are quite specific. That the alarmists, who never stop posting about the grave danger we are in, don’t actually know about this, is quite telling.
According to Time magazine, we should be worried about global cooling, not about global warming.
Would it be possible to stop (or maybe even reverse) global cooling, by increasing CO2 emissions, via burning more coal, producing cars with less fuel efficiency, banning hybrids and electric cars, etc?
The Coming Ice Age era, which spanned from the fifties to almost 1980, was quite real, despite the fuckheads who want to tell you different.
There was good reason for the scare as well. The global cooling was beyond anything anyone living could remember. The January trend is obvious, as well as why it was alarming. Look at the goddamn numbers. Another look at the trend, note how Europe was all like, what cooling?
An honest skeptic with a scientific bent can look at a trend like this, and understand why people were fucking concerned. WTF? Seriously, that’s a drop in the US heartland of 15 degrees F
That’s some serious fucking shit there. The US climate records match this of course. The 30s and 40s were the warmest it had been in the US since records started. The serious drop got everyones attention.
Now if you actually followed all them links and understand the complicated science and shit, then the warming from 78-1998 makes a lot of sense. It’s also why “they” don’t show youthe same data starting in 1940, because that doesn’t show extreme warming in the heartland at all. In fact, it shows cooling for parts of the US! How the fuck can that be possible?
Not only has January not warmed in some states in 58 years, but actually cooled? How about the entire winter? As Spock would say, “Fascinating”.
I could only read the first paragraph without creating a log-in account. That part makes the same mistake the AGW useless apes make, taking an incredibly short time frame, say 5 years, and claim it’s enough to project 10,000 years. However, if we look at the ice core data for the past 500,000 years, then yes, we can project that indeed the average global temperatures will be lower than today in 10,000 years. That projection will have to have a probability assigned to it (which I myself don’t know). Just look at that nasty anomaly at 225,000 years ago. Obviously, only a fool would make a broad reaching claim-as-fact about such matters.
“A series of unusually cold winters has gripped the American Far West”
This statement is materially false, a lie if you like. I live in the American Far West and recent winters have been mild, so mild if fact that a recent killing frost was the first since winter of 2010/11. All my tender annuals that I planted spring of '11 just died. But that’s completely usual and normal. Time magazine is lying to your face. Crap, the forecast for San Diego on Tuesday is for a high of 85ºF … fuck an A … we all live in the wrong places.
If you had read my previous posts (and why wouldn’t anyone?) and followd the links, it would all be clear.
Something youngsters can’t grasp was how the sea ice was areal fucking problem back in the cold period.
You couldn’t get a single goddamn ship in or out of Iceland due to the sea ice in winters. It was bad. Same for the great lakes shipping, it was fucking colder than hell sometimes in the US.
The arctic sea ice sat data starts in 1979, just after the arctic warming started. It’s why they always show the chart starting in 79. If it started in 1940 the huge increase in sea ice up until 78 would be obvious, as well as how there used to be less sea ice during the 40s. But that makes the global warming scare story sort of fall apart. Can’t very well have that.
I am not joking around. It has not been unusually cold in the Far West, nowhere even close. It is a material falsehood to state otherwise. We are currently in an ice age that started 30 million years ago. If you give creditability to the O18 data, then we can say the Earth was free of permanent ice during the previous 70 million years. I personally don’t understand the O18 data, and can give you no guidance whether to accept it or not.
If there’s permanent ice, then we’re in an ice age.
