Too bad there’s not a market for used 78s, I could set you up with a bunch…those things are way heavier than 33-1/3s!
Right? Someone dropped off a box of them for me without my knowledge, so I couldn’t give them back. I’ll probably put them out for free and if no one takes them they’ll go into the dumpster.
maybe you could use them as decoration?
hey, maybe even strike a deal with a few coffehouses … you give them a few for ambientation and they let you put up flyers or so … or maybe a colab (creating a few specific playlists for them, etc…) ???
No, play the 78s at 33-1/3rd and there are secret messages! Only $10 per record.
Or target practice at a gun range.
I plan to check out the store this Saturday! I think around noon, give or take.
Perhaps some others would like to come out, too?
Please come to the store this weekend if you’re within driving distance. I don’t care if you buy anything or not. It’s about the only thing holding me together right now.
126 N. Genesee, Waukegan IL.
I’m sorry, I’m too many states away.
Long-distance support, though.
Get an old Seeburg 1000 BMS, the beautiful chromed one that looks like a microwave oven, and rewire it with LED cabinet lights and have the motor spinning the records without doing anything else. Put it on a shelf with some USB speakers hidden nearby.
You can then play whatever music all day long and it will absolutely fool everybody into thinking the cool machine is playing records, without wearing out your records / needles and without risking skips.
Come on, people! Poor @Akaj is barely clingling to this raft in the rapids we call life. I mean, just LOOK at him. Or her, I dunno, either.
Good drivin’ weather in the forecast and humidity favorable for flipping through stacks.
It’s a 21 hour = 2 day drive for me each way. If I left first thing tomorrow = Fri I’d get there late Sat night.
Somebody else will have to keep our friend afloat another week.
I appreciate you all and can’t wait to see anyone who actually makes it.
Did I mention we don’t open until 1:00, and there’ll be a silly ribbon-cutting ceremony with speeches and shit? Maybe come after 1:30 unless you like that kind of thing.
FWIW, i’d love to be there… but as i live in the UK it’d be a logistical nightmare
not helped by the fact that my passport has expired.
But good luck.
If I was within 100 miles I’d be there with friends. Proud of you.
850 miles away here, but since my husband has at least 2000 LPs I’m observing your enterprise with interest! If we lived close enough, I’d send him and his collecting friend over to you.
I’m within driving distance. It would just be a 12 1/2 hour drive. But no pesky oceans in the way.
Big shoutout to @jnglmassiv for stopping by WMX Saturday! First time I’ve ever met a Doper in real life, and it was great to chat for a few minutes while things were quiet.
Saturday was actually huge I as much business in one day as in all my combined popups this summer.
Yay! Glad it worked out well!

Thanks for having me in and it was nice meeting you, too. You have a delightful shop and I wish I was more of the record listening type since you have so many groovy albums.
Congratulations! Good job!
