I remember hearing about Truth or Conseqwuences ages ago. Half is news to me, though. Then they started with the stadium names. I thought we’d made some progress when they finally gave Boston the Garden back, instead of the Fleet Center. But we’re still on the road to Corporate Namehood, it seems.
Did they learn nothing from Enron, Tico, WorldCom, etc? Staking you’re town’s identity on a corporation’s whims over which you’ve no control sounds a bit… risky?
I’m sure it has nothing to do with ego. Based purely on conjecture, most likely Mr. Clark wanted to incorporate because Denton County is a local option county in relation to alcohol sales. The county is dry but incorporated areas can choose to allow the local option of alcohol sales. As long as the retail businesses in an area are in unincorporated areas of the county, they can’t sell alcohol.
