I'm trying to find an album tat I heard 15 years ago

This is a long-shot but here goes. Around 2003-04 I heard a spoken word album that I would like to find. It was a comedy in which the speaker(singer?) talked about how great he was and how he wrote the greatest novel ever. Most of the tracks were him going on about his accolades (selling more copies than the Bible, winning awards, etc.) The only one that I remember was about him going to Albania and the people there revering him. He mentions that Albania is the poorest country in Europe but they pooled the few resources they had to give him awards and other nonsense.

The only other thing that I remember is that the guy went by three names. For some reason my brain keeps thinking Neil Patrick Harris but that’s obviously not his name.

I’m posting this on the off chance that somebody here recognizes this album. I’m assuming that it came out in the late 90’s or early 2000’s.

The entire album was about how he wrote the greatest novel ever?

The basic story was that he was famous for writing the greatest novel ever. The rest of was supposed to be autobiographical.

Sorry brother; there’s just not enough details for me to do a meaningful search.

Your brain keeps thinking that because it’s Neal Pollack.

Good job for knowing, but we cannot award full points for your answer; instead, I’l take them:

The Neal Pollack Anthology of American Literature by Neal Pollack & the Pine Valley Cosmonauts

That’s it! Thank you. You guys are awesome.

Hour and a half. We’re slipping.

Now that the question has been answered, I have one for the OP: did you get your username from the Adrian Belew album?

Yes
