I'm white!

I can’t wait till I tell my husband, his kids, and my parents that all 6 of us are black!

For the record, everyone I knew growing up had an even 5th digit. I thought everyone did, honestly, because people around me all thought (and taught) that this was so. I have never heard of this particular even 5th=black thing till now.

Well, damn.

Now I’m black and my SO is white.

I’m so confused…damn that Irish-French-Prussian ancestry for fooling me like this!

Interesting, the 5th digit of my SSN is also even. I had no idea I was black. And since I put hot sauce on everything, that clinches my blackness, according to Bernie Mac.

Where’s my dashiki and sense of grievance?

I guess this means I’ve been wasting my time with that 30-SPF sunscreen before I discovered this thread.

Damn. I’m so white that not only is the fifth digit in my SSN odd, but every digit but one is odd.

I guess I’m a real oddball

Well, gosh, turns out I’m black! My parents are going to be awfully surprised, when I tell them.

Where do I sign up for Ebonics language classes? I’m all embarrassed that I don’t already know it.

Say what? Foo! Ya don’t be takin’ no classes to learn ebonics … no, I’m sorry, even in jest I just can’t do it … Darn my black social security numbered soul!!!

So is that the 5th number from the left or right?

 I always knew I was a little odd

[total hijack]I didn’t get an SSN until I was 5 years old. People have been telling me that this is impossible. But now I can prove it because I was born in DC and my first 3 digits point to Rhode Island. Ahh, sweet justification![/total hijack]

Well, I’m black and my 5th number is even, so I guess I’m… even more black? Or something :stuck_out_tongue:

what does it mean if my…if the fifth digit is a “&”?

Mine’s even, but I’m Hispanic (for those who haven’t seen my post on the GQ).[URL=http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=193039]

Why is it imposible not to have a SSN till you were five? I didn’t get one till I was about 14 or 15.
Of course, these days you need one as a child to be claimed on your parent’s tax return, but a lot of people over 25 or so may not have gotten one till they started working.

By any chance, was your SSN issued in Roswell, New Mexico?
