I'm Writing a Book... anyone else?

I’m 100,000ish into my first book. Its an action adventure set in the 1960’s of an alternative futre where second world war never stopped. Really enjoying the experience anyone else ‘at it’?

100,000 words :smack:

I’m not writing a book but I do really like alternative history. You got a publisher set, and, if so, when will it come out?

I’m “between books,” and really itching to get started on the next one. I have two possible biography subjects (as you know, one just fell through, dammit), but I have to see if I can get the family and the fan club to cooperate on Subject No. 1; if not, on to Subject No. 2.

Everytime I’m in the middle of a book I think, “why do I do this?!” but the minute it’s over and I take a breath, I’m on to the next one again . . .

I shared a short story with a friend of mine, and she said “You should try to expand this. Have you ever thught about writing romance novels?” And I said, “Uh…not really.” And she said, “I’m writing one this summer, you should try.” And I said, “I’ve got nothing better to do.”
So, that’s my Master Plan for this summer.

No publisher as yet. The plot is a Nautical last battleship type thing, Crossed with action in a besieged london.

I’m working on one (I always am). Current is a fantasy novel set in the 1930s; I’m about 20,000 words in.

But 100,000 words and you’re not done? Sounds like trilogy territory.

Of course, my one published novel is available at the link below.

its almost done just tying up loose ends and gonna go over it in the summer. alternate history is bloody confusing…

I started one several years ago…It is a funny slant on “Retail” with stories about the 20 some-odd years I have spent in retail.
I really should go back to it while I am looking for work.

I’m writing a contemporary romance novel right now. Just in the past 6 weeks, I’ve gotten about 50,000 words into it, so it’s going pretty well. I expect to be finished in a couple of months.

I’ve been trying to work on a fantasy novel for the past four months, but it’s been slow going as I’ve been busy for most of the time. I haven’t checked lately, but I’m probably close to ten thousand words.

I’ve got one manuscript I wrote a while ago, about 100000 words in desperate need of editing, but I keep putting off doing it. I’ve got a good idea now that could run that long, but I just can’t get motivated. I need to find some motivation.

I’ve got a first draft of a space opera I’ve been trying to wrestle into submission. The past few weeks have been too busy to work much on it, but I’ve informed the family that for the next two months that’s what I’m doing.

I’m writing a James Bond action-adventure novel. I don’t know how many words it is, but it’s about 125 pages long so far. It’s almost done, really.

It’s my first one, and I’m enjoying it. It’s taken me 4-5 months to do. I’ll be lucky if I can finish it before the school year is out.

I’m currently engaged in an on and off writing of a novel about a group of teenagers who traverse the US in search of various mind altering substances. I’m only a few pages into it, and I tend to write sporadically. You may e-mail me if you’d like a couple of sample pages. ::shrug::

I’ve been working on a novel for two or three years now about a dragon family. I haven’t worked on it for a couple of months now 'cause I’ve been working.

I’m writing a gay coming-of age story set in northern Wisconsin in the 1920s. I’m about 200 pages in right now. It’s my first novel and it’s… an experience.

I’m working on a novel that is both about a mentally ill soldier in the First World War and his grandson, who is an orderly in a V.A. hospital at the end of the Vietnam War. Going back and forth between these two periods of history is fun, but getting the dialog right (and natural) is harder than I thought.

I’ve got about …ohhhhh…twelve to sixteen started…possibly more if I count the ones I did and finished ten years ago. ( Utter brain farts).

And they are all romance.

It’s fun having all these characters running amok in my head.

Who needs heroin?

I’m 45 pages away from finishing my final edit of my 2nd novel, a fantasy story about an elf who is sent by his king to collect a valuable magic item. He is attacked before he leaves and he awakens to find himself in the midst of a group of mercenaries who claim to be his escorts. I’ll send out queries and then start editing my 3rd, which is an action-adventure set in the near future. I’m planning it to be a series, and my 4th novel will be in that world (think Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich, etc) I haven’t written a new novel in quite a while, since I’m doing all this editing.

The only thing that will put my writing on hold for a long while will be if I get an assignment with any of the d20 publishers that I’ve been trying for.
