I recently updated my iMac 27 to the new Sierra OS. I also have a Sonos music system installed that, among other things, is linked to my iTunes music library in a file called “Chefguy’s iMac - My Music”.
I tried to play some music yesterday and got a message that the file “My Music” no longer exists. So two questions:
- Could installing Sierra have deleted that file? My assumption is that’s the case.
- I know how I would fix it on a Windows system, but how do I recreate the file on my Mac? This is my first Mac product and I’m still fumbling about in the dark when it comes to routine operations.
Thanks for any help.
Correction:
The music folder exists. The message I get is that Sonos can’t access the folder because the server can’t be found (?).
There’s a lot of complaints about Sonos doing this, long before Sierra came out.
The most common answer is: call Sonos, and have them configure your system correctly.
Followed some online directions and now the library file is completely invisible to Sonos. My neighbor has a local friend who is a Sonos rep, so maybe I can get him to take a look.
Fixed it with my own brainpower! It appears that the upgrade to Sierra caused the file path to change. I finally just deleted the existing path, and had the computer create a new path to the iTunes music folder. Re-synced the music to Sonos and voila!
