immersion of electric humidifer motor

The set-up; a humidifier with mold growing all around the fan and motor housing in a location that will be next to impossible to clean.

The question; Can I immerse the entire motor housing, and thus the motor, in a water / chlorine bath (obviously unplugged). Then pull it out, allow it to air dry completely, and it still work?

Advice is greatly appreciated.

Bleach is nasty, corrosive stuff. Applying it to the thin insulation of motor windings is asking for trouble.

Denatured alcohol might work.

I have immeresed electronics including motors in water (actually including a keyboard that I spilt cola in) that didn’t suffer any ill effects. As stated bleach is corrosive and will take it’s toll.

Thanks for steering me away from the bleach.
