Immigrants to the U.S.

One set of grandparents came from Italy and Poland, the other ones were from New Mexico back when it was Old Mexico.

Shoot, I should have changed my answer. I answered “Longer ago than great great grandparents,” but just remembered one of my great great grandfathers did immigrate to Texas from Scotland (or possibly he was Ulster Scots, I forget which).

My maternal grandmother and grandfather were immigrants, from Romania and Russia, respectively.

My paternal great grandfathers and great grandmothers were immigrants. On my grandfather’s side, they technically came from Austria, but it was an area that is now Poland. I don’t know about my grandmother’s side, though they may have come from France.

Mine is as simple as possible. All four of my grandparents emigrated between about 1885 and maybe 1902. My mother’s parents as children and my father’s as newlyweds. Both parents were born in Philadelphia as was I. As to where they emigrated from, it was eastern Europe (Lithuania) or Russia or territory that went back and forth. No one was ever quite sure.

Hm, maybe your grandparents drank in my Lithuanian grandmother’s taproom, in what is now called Northern Liberties.
