Impetigo...now with sides!

My grandie presented last week with the characteristic sores of impetigo. No idea (at that stage) where he’d copped them from. A few days of antibiotics seemed to clear them up…until today:

Today he was diagnosed with not only impetigo (in his ear) but SHINGLES (on his elbow) and a spurt of ringworm on his neck. Fuck. Doc reckons his immune system was a wee bit compromised after the first dose of impetigo…hence the latter infections.

A schoolfriend turned up at the door this arvo to play with the grandie…only to be told that said grandie was infectious and not playing. Schoolfriend then spurted that he’d had impetigo TWICE already this year, and didn’t think it was a big thing.

Fuck. :frowning:

God, poor fella. He just a rash waiting to itch. Kiss his boo-boos, grandma. Kiss him once for me.

I hope he feels better soon.

Kids get shingles? I thought kids got chicken pox?

My middle daughter had shingles as a 10yo.
I had an idea that it may have come from unvaccinated kids at school. At the time chickenpox vaccine was not mandantory. My kids had the shots because their pediatrician insisted.

A couple of translations please.

Grandie = grandson? At first I thought grandfather but that doesn’t seem to fit.

Arvo = ???
