I’m not quite certain what to make of it, as I desperately need to do a reread of that book in particular. As always, the effects look nice. The children playing Edmund and Lucy have grown quite a bit. So much so that I didn’t think they looked small enough compared to Peter and Susan, but such is film.
Prince Caspian is one of my favorite books in the series, so I am excited!
ps: I didn’t see a thread on this already, and I searched, so apologies if I’m repeating something already brought to notice!
Isn’t Caspian blond? I also thought he looked a bit too old - wasn’t he only a little older than Peter and Susan? Dawn Treader is, what, five years later? He’ll be middle-aged by then!
I think it looks awesome. I thought the first film was almost perfect, and it looks like they’ve appropriately changed the vibe for the new one. Prince Caspian is basically just one big battle.
I’m still having a hard time figuring out how to film this book. It just doesn’t seem like a book that’s really set up for easy filming in terms of how to tell the story. That said, if the reviews are reasonably good, I’ll go see it.
Actually, I don’t think he was older than Peter and Susan at all in the book. I thought he was a bit younger than them. I’ve always pictured him as no more than twelve in Prince Caspian, which would make him around seventeen in Dawn Treader. I definitely think the actor playing him is too old for this movie.
This looks very good. I really enjoyed Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader most of the series, even the old 80s film versions. The recent LWW was wonderfully done, IMO, so I’m looking forward to this.
Okay, I was all set to be cynical, but then it turns out that the trailer gave me a little thrill. I especially liked the moment when the girls realized they were in another world, and took off running down the beach.
I was surprised Caspian seems so old. In the book, he is nearly Peter’s peer, perhaps a little older. In the movie, he seems more … older. And hotter. I don’t know if I think of Caspian as sultry! (I could probably adjust.)
The book has a lot of backstory of the young Prince Caspian, definitely a kid. After fleeing the palace of his uncle, he lives in the woods with the dwarves and talking animals for quite a bit while they build up the Old Narnian army. I don’t think I saw any of that in the trailer, and it really is a big part of the book (and also why, I think, so many people remember Caspian as a kid, not an adult. A sultry adult.) The IMDB doesn’t list any actor for a “young Caspian” although I guess it is still early. It also lists a character called “Asterius,” definitely not in the books.
Well, that does look promising. Caspian is definately too old – albeit very sexy. I suppose they went that route so they could use the same actor for Dawn Treader? And it looked like Caspian found the Pevensies himself, in the ruins, rather than sending Trumpkin after them? Maybe they compressed those events to save time.
May, huh? I’m looking forward to it – Caspian is my second favorite of the books.
