In Appreciation of Dragonforce

So, I’ve been listening to their newest Album, Inhuman Rampage, and I must say, I’m hooked. I normally don’t like metal AT ALL but these guys are WONDERFUL. I can’t stop listening to Through The And The Flames and Operation Ground And Pound. Just wonderful.

Any other fans?

I hate metal but I like Dragonforce. They’re melodramatic and cheesy as hell, and I’d feel embarrassed to see them in concert (probably because I’d be older than everyone there, at 29). But they have that great epic feel to their music, that makes me wish I was a Viking warlord or a superhero, standing at the edge of a cliff with a sword in one hand and an axe in the other, facing the hordes of hell with the fate of the universe hanging in the balance. (I unapologetically love the music of Stan Bush, and “The Final Countdown” by Europe for similar reasons.)

On that note, Dragonforce is awesome for listening to while you work out, especially for cardio stuff.

Wow! Thank you for the point in their direction.

A work out to their music would most likely at my age lead to a massive stroke, but by God, they are fantastic. I would also recommend that them boys don’t drink any more caffiene drinks. I expected the drummer to implode at any time.

Now, that being said…Woo flipping cock a doodle hoo! Holy shit, all that long hair blowing in the wind and metal music, dear heavens it’s enough to make a grown woman weep with joy.

And Herman Li? Wholly khow, that man is nothing but hotter than a Saturday night special.

I wouldn’t call myself a big fan, but I certainly do enjoy Dragonforce when I’m in the mood for some extra-cheesy, over-the-top power metal. They remind me of the days when I was a teenager and would play “Freewheel Burning” by Judas Priest on a 33 RPM LP at 45 RPM.

Ever since GH3 came out all the little hardcore GH kiddies are talking about how awesome DF is because of how fast and difficult that song (Through the Fire and the Flames)is on GH. Nevermind the fact that these same kids would never have listened Dragonforce for 5 seconds if they hadn’t heard it on GH first because it sounds like cheezy hair metal to them.

I’ve had Inhuman Rampage for a month or so and Through the Fire and Flames is indeed a good track but those dudes sound EXACTLY the same on every song. So much so that it’s VERY hard to tell the difference (if there is one) between the chorus of Fir/Flames and Ground and Pound. these guys are as bad as rappers when it comes to recycling the same phrases over and over on different songs.

I can appreciate them as a guitar player myself as I could never do what Herman Li does in a million years but I’m not really into power metal and am more into harder stuff lately like Divine Heresy and Agony Scene.

For what it’s worth though I’ve heard from more than one person that Dragonforce has a really tough time playing their own songs outside the studio because they are so fast and techincal. I’ve heard they suck live but that’s just hearsay.
