In ARCHIE comics, what was Big Mooses real name?

My dad told me he’d let me have a couple of beers next weekend up at the cabin if I can come up with the answer to this! I’ve been searching on the web for 2 hours now to no success.
This is important. Help!

In an issue of an Archie comic I saw in the late 50s, Midge reads Moose’s real name on a bulletin board in a corridor at Riverdale High: he’s willing to give her up for a large collection of Archie Comics Betty has! He signed his name “Merton Matowski”; I guess in recent years it was chaged to “Moose Mason” so as not to be too ethnic. (A story about the Statue of Liberty has an ancestor of Moose coming from Russia, with the name “Laslo Kharandashov”; he figures the immigration official won’t be able to assimilate it so he sees a tractor-trailer with the name Manson on it, and gives his name as “Laslo Manson.” The immigration official enters his name as “Leslie Mason.”)

That was the name the General was looking for! Boy, is he stunned I got it. Thanks!!!

Pretty soon he’s gonna wanna know where ya got so smart.

Hope you like the beer.

He knows I go on here. He’s been here himself.

Well, I guess he figures a couple of beers can’t harm you. Corporal White used to let me have beer and cigarettes from a very young age (around 6 or so), and only a few tastes of beer cured me for life. Cigarettes, on the other hand, was only one puff.

Now good red wine, well, I got the Corporal to switch from his crappy cheap California wines to great Cabernet Sauvignon from California (or Chile), so he doesn’t think I’m a complete idiot.

At one point, Archie Comics Group created a superhero parody feature that showed up in Archie and even floated it’s own title for a while.
Archie and his friends were redone as superheroes.

Here he comes to save the… no that’s somebody else.[/li][/list=1]

A re-launch of this idea appeared in Archie’s Weird Mysteries

I have a perverse fondness for this particular silliness.
And, since a Secret Identity is another name, Moose is also named Mighty Moose.
