In BBQ, why mod a hint at a racist joke but not an actual racial slur?

I wasn’t offended by the slur, but the context, that supposedly my wife and child hate me and think I’m a “cracker”, was awfully obnoxious. But it’s the Pit; being extremely obnoxious isn’t necessarily against the rules.
