I don’t see a problem from an engineering point of view; as tomndebb said and I concur, the barrel will probably be the “base” (otherwise why include a barrel at all?). The barrel will probably be of a piece with the statue, joining it at Abe’s right leg.
But it certainly is tacky and ugly…paging Bill Griffith! This is just like the “pop architecture” (my term) statues and buildings he’d been obsessing over in the panels of Zippy the Pinhead for the last year or two.
