Just be sure not to mention the noodle incident.
I hate that Wilhelm scream. It’s used so often now it’s just not cool. As if it ever was. Whenever a guy falls off a cliff or something and lets out a regular scream, I clap.
Did you catch it in Indiana Jones 4? It was an unusual use of it.
Probably won’t catch it until it’s on DVD. What was it?
psst! this one i got. thanks for the fish!
alright, the two of you need to explain…have I been wooshed?
There’s a pineapple in every episode of Psych.
Another in Indiana Jones 4: “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
Kermit didn’t know, either. (Although it never actually is explained, I’m convinced “The Banana Sketch” is the Muppet equivalent of “The Aristocrats.”)
Well… the best way to explain heeheeeheeee… Excuse me.
…the banana sketch would be to perform it for you… and I’d screw it up from laughing too much…
Or you could look here…
ETA: beaten to the punch…
I don’t think a joke like this really counts if it’s only be run by one individual or group. It’s no big deal if John Smith puts the name of his grandmother’s dog in every movie he makes. It only when other filmmakers starting put imitating Smith and mentioning Mister Pugsworthy in movies that Smith had nothing to do with that it’s the real thing.
While we’re on the subject of screams, is there a name for that scream that shows up in Disney movies? We first saw it with Goofy doing it, but it’s also in Pete’s Dragon, Cinderella, maybe Beauty and the Beast, and I’m pretty sure it’s in Enchanted. Somebody gets flung or falls from a height, and the scream goes something like Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo. (Hope I got the right number of hoos in there.)
Ah, yes, the Goofy Holler.
Here’s one that came up on a rerun of “the Simpsons” last night: Every so often, in pop culture, somebody will refer to making a big shocking revelation as “boiling a bunny.” That refers to the infamous scene from Fatal Attraction in which Glenn Close leaves Michael Douglas’s daughter’s pet bunny in a pot of boiling water - and thus forcing Douglas to admit to his wife about his affair.
Indy is driving a motorcycle through a lecture hall. As people are leaping out of the way, the camera comes face-to-face with a nerdy kid holding some books, who lets out a Wilhelm scream as he falls out of the way. Bizarre to hear it coming from someone who isn’t falling to his doom.
There’s a similar phenomenon with a stock sound effect for car crashes. The screeching tires/scream/crash combonation used in “Transfusion”, “Dead Man’s Curve”, and others. Don’t think it has a commonly used name, though.
There’s also “Castle Thunder” but I don’t think that gets used as much anymore.
Theres another one that I ive heard in several places. Its the “creaking door”.
I think I heard it first in the old pc game “daggerfall”. After that I started noticing it quite often. My google skills are failing me atm tho.
No soap, radio.
That Willhelm Scream would be one of those things that it’s best not to know about. I’m going to notice it every time I hear it now.
Want to bet?
