The expression “high, wide, and handsome” comes up in regard to Christie, except he isn’t that good-looking.
Or that high.

Colbert-Franken would be better still.
It’s all fun and games until someone puts an eye out. I really fear that Santorum might win the nomination. What if Obama seriously misteps or, heaven forbid, some idiot shoots him? A one in a million chance maybe but I don’t want to take even that chance that Santorum could actually be president. I’m shuddering at the thought.
I will almost certainly be voting for Obama again, but I’m not too concerned about a Romney presidency, as long as the Dems maintain control of the Senate. A Santorum presidency is a little scary. He wouldn’t be able to put much, if any, of his social agenda into law, but his foreign policy could be problematic. I sense him being much more bellicose than Romney.
A Santorum presidency = literal rioting in the streets.
Remember Hillary was beating Obama in the polls and primaries till the end. But Obama started out winning pluralities early when Edwards was in the race.
They were saying a black man was not electable. They were wrong.
Neither Romney nor Santorum can beat Obama.
This is the odd thing. Most of the time with a bad economy the incumbent doesn’t have much of a chance. See the 2010 elections when the Democrats lost a lot of ground.
The Republicans are so weak now, in terms of the presidency, the strongest candidates did not run.
So the Republicans didn’t field a better candidate as the strong ones didn’t run as they didn’t want to spend time and money just to lose. They also didn’t want to run and lose, because that would hurt their chances in 2016.
Look at Hillary who seems to regret leaving the US Senate, where she would’ve had more influence, to become Obama’s flunky as Secretary of State
The same thing happened in 1996 with Dole. He was weak but the good Republicans didn’t run as they knew they couldn’t beat Clinton. No Republican could at that point.
And this is why we got Mondale in 1984 and other examples of weak candidates
I think an Obama-Paul match up would be hilarious. I’d love to see Obama just blurt out “are you fucking serious?”
But an Obama Santorum match up would be useful in convincing the Republican party that the tea party really is more trouble than it is worth. The Republican party really needs to set up a table in the republican tent for the tea party right next to the John Birch Society.
