In search of: PDF markup ap for Android

One of the facets of my life that will hopefully start up again this year is Burning Man and one of the aspects of that is training Black Rock Rangers. The initial training is seven hours long and the trainers work as a team, deciding ahead of time who will teach which section.

Up until now I’ve been printing out the trainer’s manual and using flags to denote who’s doing what. The first time the cost for printing and binding was $8 but thanks to inflation and an enlarging manual the last time in 2019 it had crept up to $22. Accordingly, and kind of wanting one anyway, I’ve bought an Android 2-in-1 and intend to load the PDF manual to use instead.

Wanting to simulate the flags, I’m not looking for much, a colored patch in the margin with room for a couple initials at each of the hand-offs. Free would be nice but I don’t want pesky ads popping up so I’m willing to pay. Easy to use would be a big plus as well.

Any suggestions out there?

“Acrobat for Samsung” (or whatever the equivalent is on your tablet), “Moon Reader Pro”, Foxit Reader, Evernote, etc.—they all seem to have that annotation capability.

BTW you could also just buy a comb binding machine and a laser printer…

I prefer one called Xodo. It is free, I don’t think it has ads, and it can edit PDFs. There is also a version for IOS, that works well, too.

A laser printer I have already. I am imagining a comb binder would be a little pricy for once a year use.

Starting around $50. On the other hand, the construction industry seems to be moving to PDF markup just so that they don’t have to carry around marked up bits of paper, so I was assuming that you were doing the same.
