In Search Of...

There’s an episode of Leonard Nimoy’s “In Search Of…” program that I’ve seen several times that intrigue me. It’s about a small island, somewhere in the Caribean, I believe, on which is “pirate treasure” or some such riches. Now, the whole island was engineered by whomever left this treasure behind to keep anyone from digging it up. The traps are quite elaborate, so I won’t go into them. Anyone that’s seen the show will know what I’m talking about. Anyway, my question is, is this episode at all based on fact? The story is quite involved, but I’ve never, ever seen, heard, or read anything else about this fantastical island. If anyone has any input on this, it would be greatly appreciated. This has been eating away at my brain for years.

Just remember the source. “In Search of” also presented “credible” evidence on the existense of Bigfoot, Nessie, and UFOs. The Landsburgs (producers) were also proponents of the “ancient astronauts” theories.

BTW, on “In Search of” was amazing. It was a story on the fate of Hitler at the end of WW II. I saw a program on Discovery a year or two ago, which was based on Soviet archives, and (for a series typically devoted to pseudo-science) the “In Search of” gang had pretty much the same story–15 or 20 years earlier!

The island is Oak Island, and it’s been covered here and elsewhere:

Now that you know the name of the island, you should be able to find innumerable offsite articles on your own, as well…

Ah, yes, Oak Island, you hit the nail on the head, thanks. Just found this link:

Haven’t read through it yet to see if the have any additional info or supporting evidence.

Thanks, both of you, apparently my search wasn’t nearly as exhaustive as I thought!
