In the Eastern US, what's more dangerous: a tick bite or a mosquito bite?

In the US, ticks are more likely to infect people with disease than mosquitoes are.

I mean, tick bites tend to get infected and tend to carry disease. Mosquito bites can carry disease, but it’s rare. I mean, if in one year 1360 people nationwide get infected with the serious form of a disease, that’s an infinitesimal number, considering both the number of people bit by mosquitoes each year, and how many times they may get bit over the course of a year. The “big” mosquito borne diseases (yellow fever, dengue fever, malaria) aren’t really serious threats in the US for various reasons, and things like Chikungunya and Zika aren’t either, at least not yet.

By comparison, some 30,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported annually- that’s reported, not the total number who are infected, and that’s just one disease transmitted by ticks.
