In this board I have noticed it says to like but I don't see a like button?

No, the opposite of intelligent conversation is unintelligent conversation. I wouldn’t expect the presence of a “like” button to do much either way for the level of intelligent conversation. If anything, it’d cut down on contentless posts expressing appreciation, saying just “Right” or “Ditto” or “Thanks” or “LOL.”

It’s refreshing to have a forum without a “like” button. Those seem to gamify everything that includes them. I also think some people do things to earn “likes” that they may not ordinarily do. I know this is overstated, but “likes” have somewhat ruined the modern internet.
