So file a complaint as the business customer, not the individual who attempted to deposit the check.
Well played sir. But by your own links (Two of which are the same article BTW), both are correct.
However, I’m pretty sure if I wrote a check for one and twenty, the bean counters at my local bank might be inclined to think WTF?
Also, there still seems to be a general difference for the use of “and” between Americans and Brits. From your own linked article “and” is what Brits do. Not using and is an American thing.
Thanks for the links though. Interesting read.
Nobody is arguing that the omission of “and” is incorrect, so I’m not sure why you pointed that out. Of course both would be fine. Also, more than one of those links note that the use of “and” is quite common in the US.
I try to write all of my checks Abe Lincoln style.
Seven score and twain dollars and thrice fold a dozen cents.
Would you dudes take this idiotic debate somewhere else and stop your fucking thread derailment?
That was my whole fucking point, genius. When he wouldn’t stop, I showed him he was wrong, at which point it was over. Then your stupid ass came back 3 hours later and continued the idiotic hijack. Great job, dipshit.
You didn’t show anyone anything, other than the fact you will NOT stop your idiotic hijack.
I, for one, would like to talk about the sandwich a little more. Is that pimento loaf?
I was with the same bank for 15 years without any problems until it went bankrupt and taken over by Chase. Chase’s telephone system didn’t recognize my account and the local Chase people couldn’t help because of their privacy policy, so I switched banks.
Are you fucking retarded, or just totally unable to see things? Jesus, you’re a hypocritical douche.
Stahpit. Just stahpit. Jeez.
Stop hijacking the hijack dipshit.
STAHPIT.
Anyway, BofA mysteriously put $100 in my personal account today, so I think this whole thing has been favorably handled. I’m still closing my damned account, though.
You’ll probably get some lame ass apology letter telling you it was a one time courtesy and to not do it again (doesn’t matter what ‘it’ was, ‘it’ was your fault and always is).
Amen brother.
Seriously, I bank at a small bank BECAUSE of the Dope.
I finally closed all my BOA accounts last week. After years of them fucking everything up, it took weeks to get all my direct deposit and autopay stuff transferred but I’m FINALLY FREE!!!
Cool.
FWIW, banks (and credit unions) have an over/short account that they use to make things like this balance. Money in there is held pending investigation into the discrepancy, which is probably why the OP ended up getting money back later on.
Don’t be too certain. Three months after we closed our BoA checking account, in person at the branch, we got a statement showing a $-15.00 balance; they assessed our closed account a regularly monthly service fee (a fee dated weeks after the account was closed). It required another trip to the branch.
It’s cool, I’m looking forward to that call.
When I called them the first time to cancel, they feigned sadness and said “Aww, ladyfoxfyre, why are you leaving?”
I said “Because you are literally the worst bank on the planet. I would rather ask a crack addict to hold my cash because he probably wouldn’t steal as much of it as you do.”
No, I didn’t actually say that part about the crack addict. But in retrospect, I wish I had.
