Definitely not my best choice of wording. But what I was getting at is the fact that not all movies are intended to be thought provoking or life-changing. Sometimes, it’s perfectly fine, and even expected, to sit back and enjoy the ride without overthinking. Transformers, Speed Racer, and the like aren’t meant to have some kind of deep underlying meaning. As a general rule, I try not to go into a movie with high expectations. For the first viewing, I relax and my only concern is enjoyment. If it’s good, and seems like something deep, I’ll rewatch and try to pick up on the extra stuff. That’s why I very rarely hate any movies. I simply don’t get my hopes up.
Now, we all know I’m not perfect, and there are some movies where my excitement overrides rational thought. (LOTR trilogy, anyone?)

You’d think this would be ridiculously obvious to the big brains of the SDMB, but for some reason it’s not. And as a fellow lover of big dumb movies, it occasionaly makes mentioning my favorites (like Independence Day!) hard because they get dumped on so frequently.
Well I’m not either. But be sure I have watched a few episodes.

Nah, I could care less if he’s a Doper. (Even though I’m about 97.5% sure he’s not.) My concern is the fact that he deliberately acted to ensure that only his friends could read what was written. It just seems really fucked up to post it here. I know I wouldn’t want anyone posting copies of my friends-only stuff! The way I figure it, all the friends-only posts that the Comic Guru has made in the past were made in good faith that his friends would respect his privacy. Now that I’m no longer speaking to him (but am still on his friends list) I’ll continue to respect that trust.
But if he makes a new post, it’s on like Donkey Kong!!
