in which ramesh searches for a classical musical piece

When I was in ninth grade (which was more than 10 years ago…), I listened to a piece by Tchaikovsky which got me hooked on classical stuff also. It was 9:30 minutes long, very slow but a pleasant and beatuiful movement of a string quartet.

Fast forward to day: I find out that that piece was the second movement (Andante Cantabile) of Tchaikovskys first string quartret (Op11). But horrors!! Its 6 minutes long and its a fast interpretation. Its almost as if someone’s making a parody of the piece.

I have searched over several CDs in cdnow.com for the particular version I want and it looks as if the shorter version is the more popular one.

So, does anyone know where I can buy the longer version of the second movement? (And yes, i have searched over gnutella already)

Its been almost two years; but I found what it was.

It was a piece conducted by Leonard Bernstein.

Cool.

Thanks for the update. I’ve been wondering about this ever since you first posted. I can finally start sleeping at night again.
