A woman I see around town commisserated on the election results.
I am not so broen up about it, but she claims that Bush will have 4,000 military troops with me on Inauguration Day for protection. True?
I don’t know the exact numbers but many of them will just be there for ceremonial purposes. It is the Secret Service and not the military that provides protection for the POTUS. I wouldn’t be surprised if the military had fighter jets circling overhead but ground troops are extremely unlikely.
Why would there be 4000 troops with you?
Goodness.
I meant with him.
The Air Force will almost certainly be flying overhead and the FAA might even declare a no-fly zone over DC. Is there any truth to the rumour that Cheney might be sworn in at a seperate location?
She also gave me a web page called whatreallyhappened.
I can’t say if it’s true or not, but it seems like a sensible precaution.
When I was stationed in DC during Clinton’s first inauguration Military District Washington put out a call for volunteers. Some guys I work with volunteered and ended up being one of several thousand military types standing at parade rest along the parade route.
We called them fence posts.
I’d take that anything on that website with a grain of salt, or maybe a whole shaker full. They’re obviously rabidly anti-Bush, and considering that not even Kerry himself is claiming that any fraud occured, I have to wonder about the reliability of anyone who spends so much time dwelling on the subject.
I also have to laugh at how they accuse the media of covering up the “stolen election.” Four years ago, there were millions of reporters scrutinizing every last fucking chad, and now they’re all in bed with Bush?
