Incarnation Of Immortality

Boy do I need help. I’m running a world of darkness game and have decided that I am going to bring in the Incarnation Of Immortality from the Peirs Anthony series of the same name. My only hang up is that I need the mortal names of all the incarnations. For example I know that Death’s name is Zane (but a last name would be helpful). Also if you guys could rake your brains I need the positions of office (I think that’s what they were called, The artifacts that let them use there their abilities. Like Time’s hourglass) and what the power of each is.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

(I know that bringing the Incarnations into a WOD game sounds weird but trust me I’m changing it slightly and it will rock!!!)

A bit of googling should get you the info you need - try these links for starters…

The Amazon.com listings for each book may also be helpful…

I tried Google, and the links you thought would help. Unfortunately they didn’t offer the info I was looking for. Thanks for the attempt, but I think I need help from people with either a really great memory or access to the book series.

Here ya go.

WOW that’s great thanks. The only other thing that I would need would be the names of the 3 fates (mortal and incarnation) and the tools of office for each of the incarnation.

Otto thanks, how did you find that? I tried to google and got nothing of use

Clotho, Laechis (sp?), and Atropos.

Umm… Scythe, Hourglass, Sword, something, something?

Shade, did you just happen to know that or are you looking it up? If you just know that…Why do you just know that?

As for the tools I know that Zane (Death), has more then just the scythe, what about the death watch, and the pale white horse?

If I’m not mistaken (and I may be, it’s been awhile) it’s Clothos, Lachesis and Atropos.

Wasn’t Time named Norman?

I remembered two of them and then googled. The names of the fates are the same as in the old legends, I think.

The name of Death’s Horse was Mortus, and I’m pretty sure that it could change into a hearse. I don’t remember much else about the series though.

I Googled “Incarnations immortality synopsis” and there it was.

IIRC, at least one of the Fate incarnations carried a distaff and another carried scissors. Don’t remember what the third one carried.

I really appreciate all the help that I am getting from you guys. A few questions have come up.

  1. How do you pronounce the names of the fates?
  2. What are their mortal names. (I know that there was several fates in the series.)
  3. What was Mom Natures, the other Fate, Mars, and Times tools of office. (did God and Devil have tools?)

All of this help is really great and will help my story 10 fold. Thanks again all

Thanatos’ primary “tool” was his scythe, but he also had the h[o,ea]rse Mortis, the soul-weighing gems, the cloak, the translator-earring, and a few other gawgads.

Chronos’ only tool was the Hourglass, which was stated to be the most powerful magical item in the world. The fellow in the books also had a magic ring named Sning which could turn into a tiny snake and answer yes-no questions, but that was a personal item, not associated with the office.

The Fates had the distaff, the loom, and the shears. They’re pronounced “KLO-thowe”, “lah-KEE-sis”, and “A-troe-poes”, I think.

Ares’ primary tool was the Red Sword (the most powerful weapon in the world), but he also had the Armageddon Clock, a horse, and a few assistants (Slaughter, Famine, Conquest, and Pestillence, as I recall)

Gaea didn’t have any particular artefact, and each Incarnation of Gaea seemed to wield her powers in a different way. The one from the book (Orb, wasn’t it?) wielded power by singing, and she had an (unnamed) enchanted harp she got from the Halls of the Mountain King, but the harp wasn’t really necessary.

Best to leave God and Satan out of this, IMO. By that time, the series was a pathetic joke.

If you need more info, I can check my books when I get home this afternoon.
