The Bush team says that Kerry’s plans will cost a couple of trilliion. Kerry says he’s got it figured out how to pay for it. I haven’t seen any analysis of the various things Bush proposes. Can anyone point me to a reputable independent source that has analyzed the cost of their proposals?
A serious discussion of several aspects of Kerry’s health care plan is here:

Cost data is at the bottom, discussion on other points toward the top
Generally speaking, expensive plans proposed during political campaigns are never carried out. This is either because the opposition won’t let it happen (like the Clinton health care plan) or because they never had any intention of trying it in the first place (like the Clinton middle-class tax cut). One can usually predict #2 from the ideology of the candidate (Kerry is promising that middle-income taxes won’t increase – he’s lying), but #1 is fickle.
Save it for great debates. I asked a very specific question, I am not interested here about who’s lying or not and whether they will follow through or not. Thank you Ravenman, are there any comparable links for other programs Kerry or Bush has proposed?
http://www.factcheck.org/ has lots of nit-picking on a variety of claims and programs by both Bush and Kerry, in case you haven’t looked at the whole site. Go to the main page and click on the “See More Articles” link near the top of the page (next to “Latest FactCheck Articles”)
