Indiana Amtrak Auschwitz?!?

Well, I got sidetracked  from some thread into thislooney video . It looks like bad news, but y’know what? I know a little about railroading, as a member of the GNRHS , and using Google Earth, I can’t identify a single lineside structure around Beech Grove, IN, where this video claims to have been made that resembles the structures in the video, and nobody can give me the Google Earth co-ordinates, so wtf? I was able to find lots of railfan pics of the facility including inside pictures. One of the big things the “woo-woo” guys are pushing is that they “installed a concrete floor”, I guess all the easier to hose the dead bodies off of  One problem is that in all the interior pics I found, there was already a concrete floor. I guess the “theorists” thought that they made huge industrial age buildings that were designed to handle railroad cars and locomotives with wooden floors?!?

I was searching for more info on the location, and googled off into this list of “American Concentration Camps” supposedly being built by “Halliburton” etc., and I found a site .

Of those that I can vouch for in California, they claim that at the one in Burbank, Ca, where I live, you should “Proceed up the hill to you reach the reservoir, which is in fact, a holding facility.” Um, no, The Glendale site above the Brand Library is a landfill, not a “reservoir” and the only thing up there is trash, a bulldozer, and a prota-potty for the poor sap that is compacting the trash with the bulldozer. I have personally taken a whiz in the porta-potty. I believe the name on the side was “Andy Gump”.

No guys with M-16’s. No resivoir.

The other claim for sites that I know about, that I note in that list, is the one on Pearblossom. This is a part of the California Aqueduct System, that has been there for years. The “moat” spoken of is the aqueduct itself. And I don’t doubt that if a bunch conspiracy theory wierdos showed up in SUV’s, wielding binoculars and notepads, that they wouldn’t have been asked a few questions. The Califronia Aqueduct is a potential terrorist target. Blow up a few pumping stations and SoCal goes dry, so no duh.

So given all this, is it worth a trip out to the abandoned “Beach Grove” Amtrak facility to watch the black helicopters or what? And what are the Google Earth Co-ordinates, because I can’t find it. And as a railfan, I have interest in it. As a conspiracy theorist, not so much. I would like to see the facility anyway and am planning a trip to the area. Anybody know where it is?

In the video, the place doesn’t seem like a place you could perform mass executions. For one thing, the fences are too weak. I have seen fences like this go down at a Dead concert full of peaceniks! Are you telling me that people who are being herded to their death cannot breach fences that folks can breach just to get closer to Jerrry Garcia?!? Not exactly concentration camp strength. And why were folks allowed to tour an apparently unguarded New World Order Death Camp ™ and freely and openly make narrated videos?

What say the dopers about all this, where is this place and what is it for if not death camps? What about all this business about sealing up the building and installing a gas tank? Bwhaha ha ha ha! Enquiring minds want to know! :dubious:

I have been hearing about this damn Indiana facility for years, it is a major pet of the conspiracy theorists (to the point where they are calling it a “red herring to distract us from what they are really doing”).

So if the dopers don’t know, maybe Cecil himself can step in .It would certainly fight ignorance, either way. And if he doesn’t, I will certainly take it as a sign that he has been “gotten to”

I myself am fearless, so…<NO CARRIER>

And just to comment, at about 2 minutes into the video, they mention the air force locomotive, saying that it indcates military involvement, but who knows? Railfan here again, and locos and rolling stock are sold and often new liveries are not put on for years. As long as the paint is stopping rust, railroads are loath to paint. I still see SP locos here in SoCal, we were seeing Great Northern freight cars into the 90’s even though the GN hadn’t been a going cocern for 30 years. This “Air Force” loco hasn’t been painted for years, so it does not establish military involvement in the facility.

/the more you know…

What the heck is the OP talking about?

  • Puzzled Indiana Doper

Supposedly (very supposedly) there is an old Amtrak facility by Beech Grove, IN, that has been converted into a Nazi style gas chamber, for when the New World Order ™ decides to clamp down on us peons. Any info from Indiana locals would be helpful. Personally I think it is a load. All the places they are claiming around here in Southern California that I have checked out personally seem to be nothing but BS, so I would like to find out about this Amtrak facility that has captured the imaginations of the “woo-woo” crowd for a number of years. Google Earth co-ordinates would be appreciated!

It could very well bethis place (Google Maps link). I think I see a 1920’s style death ray there! Cue the X-Files music.

And I just noticed it’s stuck in a odd part of the satellite photos which appear to have been taken at a different time from everything around it. Plus the death ray looks like it’s shooting out of a robot. Conspiracy!

The OP forgot to mention the guillotines.

Yes, the story actually included guillotines!

Very near the beginning is a date stamp of 1/23/13. I’m assuming from that that this is a mockumentary forecasting a rather pessimistic projection of the rapid decline of civil liberties in this country. If so, it could have been pieced together from a number of facilities.

I just wanna say that Indiana Amtrak Auschwitz isn’t a bad name for a band.

Thanks dude. I was deciding whether I should post that or not. Now I don’t need to!

Many years ago, when the Militia movement was at it’s peak, there was a lawyer in Beech Grove named Linda Thompson who started the concentration camp rumor. Her office was about a mile south of the Amtrak Shops on Emerson Avenue, FWIW. Another pet theory of hers was that highway mile markers that went up along all the 2 lane highways in Indiana were really for the purpose of aiding artillery spotters for a supergun battery based at Camp Atterbury.

Her pot was so cracked that it was nearly in two pieces. Biggest claim to fame was a public confrontation at a Hillary Clinton tour bus stop, and an arrest for trying to carry a concealed weapon into court.

She fell off the face of the earth around 1999 or so, and I haven’t heard about her since. Unsubstantiated rumor was she wound up disbarred over something, maybe the gun bust.

In Sydney in the late 80s, there was an AM radio jock named Brian Wilshire (he’s still around - though has calmed down a bit). Back then, he was right into conspiracy theories. Apparently, there was (is?) a concrete, windowles building in North Sydney that Wilshire said was some sort of Big Brother edifice recording our every move.

My sister: Have you heard Wilshire’s ravings about the building in North Sydney?

Me: Yeah. What is it?

My sister: It’s the Comonwealth Bank’s mainframe computer centre. I’ve been inside it as part of my job. It’s got a sign out the front saying what it is, and it’s in the phone book.

Me: What’s on the computers?

My sister: Account details and shit.

Me: Okay. Why the lack of windows?

My sister: It’s temperature controlled for the computers.

Me: So Wilshire’s an idiot, more or less?

My sister: Yeah.

For better overall photos:
Go to http://local.live.com/

Enter Beech Grove IN

Keep clicking the zoom “+” until the grainy colored photo is replaced by clearer black and white photos.

The facility is just to the right of the residential area with the “Beech Grove” label, bounded on the West by Emerson Ave and with Albany Street dead-ending from the West at Emerson in the top left (Northwest) corner of the facility.

Zoom down a couple more times, re-centering as needed (just click and drag the image), then click on “Bird’s Eye” to get local photos in three-quarter view taken from a low-flying plane from the south of the facility.
The “Bird’s Eye” shots are a bit tricky to manipulate; you can click and drag to see more of each photo, but then you have to click in the nine-box thumbnail to get the adjacent photo which does not always perfectly line up, although you can usually see everything with click-and-drag manipulation.

Those are grain elevators. tomndeb seems to have nailed it. I didn’t think that was it becasue of all the cars in the parking lot it looked like an active industry. Anyway, like I said, I have personally been to some of the places on the list of “camps” that I linked to, and they are all innocuous facilities, so I expect this is no different. Thanks all.

It would be odd to locate such a “camp” right in the middle of town, doncha think? Thanks all.

(cue music) There’s more than corn in Indiana… at Indiana…

um, Beech Grove.

It’s all coming together. The OP mentioned a Dead concert: Dead concert->Dead Heads->guillotine.

My Dad worked at one of the elevators as a shipping clerk for Van de Camp in the late 1930s. (He said that as a six-foot-three, big-boned Kraut, he was the largest guy on the docks, but since he could actually operate a typewriter, he got to be the clerk while all the smaller guys had to wrestle bags of feed across the paltforms.) However, those elevators are significantly different than the stuff viewed in the video, reaching way up into the sky on that section of board-flat Indiana, towering over Raymond St. and the rest of the neighborhood.

I suspect that the reason the video shows a mostly “vacant” operation is that they went in on a late Saturday or Sunday evening when no one else would normally be there.
(At least the loons got it right that it is a railroad facility; Amtrak is located at 202 Garstang, the street that runs diagonally NW/SE along the Southwest border of the property coming off Emerson.)

Hypothesis: Most people who cook up conspiracy theories about concentration camps would not know a grain elevator if one fell over on them. Just a feeling I have.
Even then, they’d probably call it a silo.

But how do you explain the death ray?!
