Indian's Ramirez hits a wild triple

Thanks to less then stellar fielding by the Orioles. Well worth watching:

That reminds me of this recent play:

You’re right! I wonder if we could put a game together out of mindless errors like these.

I just wish more wacky stuff like that happened in baseball. These plays are so fun. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s amusing that the single play included both idiotic baserunning and astute baserunning, both by Ramirez. Attempting to advance to second when the throw is coming in to the cut-off man was dumb. But to quickly realize that third base was uncovered and free for the taking was smart.

I know they don’t count mental errors as errors, but somehow that just shouldn’t be counted as a triple.

It wasn’t counted as a triple; it was scored a single, Ramirez to third on a fielder’s choice. No error, though.

I would be very surprised if they scored that as a triple. It looks like a single and a two base error to me.

Yeah, I just looked at the box score and saw it was scored as a single. I feel better now. The article posted above was misleading at best.

I think he ran either assuming that the play would be at home or to draw a throw so that the go ahead run could score.
