I just wish more wacky stuff like that happened in baseball. These plays are so fun.
It’s amusing that the single play included both idiotic baserunning and astute baserunning, both by Ramirez. Attempting to advance to second when the throw is coming in to the cut-off man was dumb. But to quickly realize that third base was uncovered and free for the taking was smart.
I know they don’t count mental errors as errors, but somehow that just shouldn’t be counted as a triple.
It wasn’t counted as a triple; it was scored a single, Ramirez to third on a fielder’s choice. No error, though.
I would be very surprised if they scored that as a triple. It looks like a single and a two base error to me.
Yeah, I just looked at the box score and saw it was scored as a single. I feel better now. The article posted above was misleading at best.
I think he ran either assuming that the play would be at home or to draw a throw so that the go ahead run could score.
