If it helps, I got your sarcasm. But here’s the thing…those things I mentioned…stopping inflation, drastically reducing unemployment, getting Indonesia to a state where it could feed itself, making the state stable, etc. weren’t just “allegedly ‘good’”. They were actually good, and helped the lives (and in many cases saved the lives) of Indonesians. Does this stuff balance out with all the bad stuff he did? I don’t know. But if you’re asking why anyone would want to honor Suharto, you have to look at the ways he helped Indonesia as well as the ways he harmed it.
We should nuke him from orbit…it’s the only way to be sure.
