Hi, folks. Sorry about the description that follows but it is a legit questions.
Let’s say, for example, you ate something and it ended up coming out of you with a sharp end that sort of cut the wall of your body as it exited. (I don’t know what I ate that did this.) And so now there’s a cut inside - how does that not get horribly infected? I can’t think of anything much worse than having waste right by a cut. Or does it get very infected and should I be going to the doc immediately?
Well, it sounds painful and unpleasant, but it’s probably not too serious. You could get some recommendations from a doctor, though. Be sure to drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables so that everything is nice and soft, if you know what I mean.
As for infection, I had a tear and stitches there after my first baby and all they had me do was rinse with betadine for a day or so. After that no problems. I suppose you are just immune to your own normal bacteria.
wow, someone actually did tear a new hole you mean? i would think a doctor would know best about the infection part, but i imagine that the rectum is full of antibodies or something, some type of strong immunity to infection considering what it goes through, (or what goes through it rather…)
The body is not stupid, it can handle things like that very well. As it’s your first post, you might take a look at webmd.com Could be lots of things, maybe an anal fissure, search for that.
Don’t take medical advice from the net. See a doc, if you can’t afford one, call a local hospital, they have wonderful people on the phone who love to tell you what you should do & reassure you too!
When my kid brother (who is straight) was in college, he developed an anal fissure, and the doctor he went to asked him, perfectly seriously, (a) whether he was gay, and (b) whether he’d been allowing someone to insert Coke bottles or light bulbs up his rectum. (“No” to both questions.)
Also, I know someone whose 8-month-old baby boy was also diagnosed with an anal fissure, but AFAIK, in that case, the pediatrician didn’t immediately jump to the conclusion that somebody’d been butt-humping him with foreign objects.
If you start running a fever, go see a doctor, but don’t be surprised by any questions he may ask you.
If you’re asking this because you’ve got blood in your underpants or in the toilet bowl, you need to go see a doctor PDQ. It could just be a cut or a hemorrhoid, it could be due to irritable bowel syndrome or Crohn’s disease, it could be worse. Don’t wait around to find out.
