Talk about yourbad headlines.
Definitely a headline worthy of a Ric Romero award.
It seems silly at first glance, but from reading the article I guess the emphasis is on the word inflicted.
They could have phrased it better so the headline doesn’t seem so stupid at first glance. Maybe “Intentionally inflicted head trauma tougher on infants” or “Abuse-related head trauma tougher on infants”
From the article (my emphasis added):
"Infants who sustain head injuries due to abuse have worse outcomes than their peers with head trauma due to other causes, researchers report in the journal Pediatrics this month. " and “At 6-month follow-up after the injury, children with inflicted injuries had lower mental developmental index scores and gross motor scores than those with noninflicted injuries.”
